COFFEE WITH THE TOWN ADMINISTRATOR Tuesday, December 12 | 10 a.m. Come meet with Town Administrator Ryan McLane on Tuesday, December 12th from 10-11am on the first floor of the Gleason Public Library for conversations and coffee! Ryan welcomes residents to meet with him during the coffee hour with any issues, thoughts and concerns. No registration required.
COAHS MOVIE Tuesday, December 19 | 1 p.m. Carlisle COAHS and Gleason Library present a classic holiday comedy-drama. After a divorced New York mother hires a nice old man to play Santa Claus at Macy's, she is startled by his claim to be the genuine article. When his sanity is questioned, a lawyer defends him in court by arguing that he's not mistaken.

WINTER HOLIDAY SING-ALONG WITH MUSIC AT THE BLISSFUL Wednesday, December 13 | 6 p.m. Join us for a fun Winter Holiday Sing-Along with Evan Haller of Music at the Blissful! Let's celebrate the winter holidays together in this fun family concert.
Evan is Music at the Blissful, a multi-award winning, national touring children's musician. He brings together communities to help foster a deeper sense of belonging and elevate everyone's mood, education, and connection. Register your family here.
GINGERBREAD HOUSE WORKSHOPS WITH MANDY ROBERGE Thursday, December 14 | Two sessions: 4:00-4:50 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. (WAITLIST ONLY for both sessions) Create your own gingerbread house with help from crafter extraordinaire, Mandy Roberge, on Thursday, December 14th, at 4:00 p.m. Both the Gingerbread House & decorating supplies (with everything you will need to make your own gingerbread house) will be provided in the workshop. Please bring along a large box or tote to safely transport the Gingerbread house back home. So that more families may participate in the gingerbread fun, we have booked two sessions of this Gingerbread House workshop. Please make sure to be aware of which of the two sessions you are registering for. Please sign up as a family (it is fine to have siblings working together on one gingerbread house together).
PLAY TIME FOR TODDLERS Tuesdays, December 5, 12, & 19 | 11 a.m. Play Time for Toddlers is a 30-minute drop-in play time for our young library users and their caregiver. Come meet new friends, bond with your little one, and explore the many resources our library has to offer! No registration required.
NATURE CONNECTION STORY TIME Thursday, December 7 | 10:30 a.m. Join The Nature Connection as we explore plants and animals and connect with the world around us in new ways—all through nature-based stories and poems! During this monthly 45-minute program for 3-6-year-olds, we will read a seasonally appropriate story followed by fun sensory engagement activities (involving sight, sound, touch and smell). Please register for each session individually.
BOOK CLUBS FOR KIDS
The Gleason Library Children's Department offers book clubs for children in grades 1 through 6. See the "Teen" section for the 5th & 6th Grade Book Club.
1st & 2nd Grade Book Club Tuesday, December 5 | 4 p.m. Have your first- or second-grader join us at the Gleason Library's 1st & 2nd Grade Book Club! Each month we'll meet in person at the Library to talk about our book of the month. After discussion, we will do a craft, activity or game. This month's selection is Henry Heckelbeck Dinosaur Hunter by Wanda Coven. Copies of the book will be available to check out at the library at the circulation desk on the first floor. Registration is required; participants only need to register once for the entire school year. 3rd & 4th Grade Book Club Thursday, December 21 | 4 p.m. Do you have a 3rd or 4th grader who loves to read? Have them join us at our 3rd & 4th Grade Book Club! MIDDLE SCHOOL MAKE & TAKE: SNOWFLAKE ORNAMENTS Friday, December 15 | 3 p.m. Drop by the Hollis Room on Friday, December 15 to paint a light-up snowflake ornament. No registration necessary; for grades 5-8. Sponsored by the Friends of the Gleason Public Library.
5TH & 6TH GRADE BOOK CLUB Thursday, December 7 | 4 p.m. Come for a book discussion and activity! Each month we will read a book and talk about it, then we will do a short activity or craft. This month we will be reading Greenglass House by Kate Milford. Copies are available for checkout at the Library. Registration is required; participants only need to register once for the entire school year.
TEEN ADVISORY BOARD Thursday, December 7 | 7 p.m. Use your voice and help the Gleason Library become even better! The Teen Advisory Board will meet once a month to discuss the Library, what you think would be most helpful to you as teens, and to just hang out with your peers to talk about school, what you're reading and/or watching, and life in general. Registration is required. This group is for students in grades 9 through 12. If you have any questions, reach out to Tahleen, the Teen Services Librarian.
EARLY RELEASE DAY MOVIE Thursday, December 14 | 1:15 p.m. Middle schoolers can join us in the Hollis Room every Early Release Day at 1:15 p.m. for a movie and snacks! This month's movie is rated PG-13 and has a runtime of approx. 1 hr 34 min. For grades 5-8.

TEEN WEEKEND READING KIT Friday, December 15 | 10 a.m Grab a kit that has everything you need for a book-lover's weekend. Each kit will include a random YA novel for you to keep (genres and reading/maturity levels will vary), a craft or activity, a snack, a little bookish accessory, and something to sip on. Registration is required to reserve your kit, and pickup will be Friday, December 15 through Monday, December 18. These kits are for grades 7-12. Please email Tahleen, the Teen Services Librarian, with any questions.

INDUCTION COOKING DEMONSTRATION Wednesday, December 6 | 7–8:30 p.m. The future of cooking is here! Induction cooktops are the next generation of electric stovetops. They are more energy efficient, faster, and safer than traditional coil burners and even Halogen cooktops. This class will cover the basics of what the induction cooktop is, what pots and pans will and will not work with it, and demonstrate some of the safety features and unique properties of this technology.
Chef Thomas Mottl, CRC, is a Certified Research Chef with over 15 years of product development experience and 8 years back of house experience. He has created recipes for both the products in the bag, and the ones you find on the bag. He is also the Food Services Director for Camp Yawgoog, one of the largest Scout camps in the country.
Includes delicious samples! Registration is required as space is limited. Sponsored by the Friends of Gleason Public Library and the Carlisle Environmental Sustainability Committee.
METALSMITHING WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS: COPPER ORNAMENTS Thursday, December 7 | 6–7:30 p.m. Design and create your own copper ornament at this workshop led by metalsmith Heather Beck! Learn about the structure of copper, how to create drawings in metal, and how to use letter stamps to create textures and words on the ornaments. Stamp your name or your favorite quote, or even create a beautiful landscape design! All materials will be provided. This workshop is for adults 18+, and registration is required.

COMMUNITY BOOK CLUB Monday, December 4 | 10:30 a.m. December: Heart Berries by Terese Marie Mailhot January: Discussion to choose books for 2024 The Carlisle Community Book Club welcomes new members any time. Please register to receive the Zoom login information. No commitment required. You don’t even have to have read the book to go to the meetings, but you may come out of the discussion wanting to read it. Sponsored jointly by the CoA and the Gleason Public Library.
READING POETRY ANEW Tuesday, December 5 | 10 a.m. Dip or dive into the pleasures of poetry. This informal course, led by Mary Zoll, will include poetry readings and reactions, discussions of the patterns and techniques used in the poems, and perhaps some intellectual understanding of the poems. This class meets one Tuesday a month. Mary Zoll has published a few poems and read a multitude of poems.
