Dear Colleagues,
This month, I am reflecting on the steady progress of Duke ECE and the community that makes that progress possible. Recent external recognition of our graduate programs underscores a decade of sustained investment in faculty, research, and graduate education in our department.
That progress is also visible in how Duke ECE serves as a hub for the field. This spring, we're pleased to host major events that bring researchers and industry leaders to campus, including OTST 2026, the leading international conference in optical terahertz science and technology, and the National Academy of Engineering regional meeting focused on the future of commercial aviation.
At the same time, our faculty continue to earn recognition on the global stage. This month, Jungsang Kim received South Korea's highest honor for scientists and engineers for his pioneering contributions to scalable quantum computing. Jungsang's work is a great example of how research from our labs can translate into real-world impact.
