The Duck Digest is your weekly guide to Stevens events, announcements, and opportunities.

Please join Stevens, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), and the city of Hoboken on Sunday, October 19th, 2025 as we walk to inspire hope, foster awareness, and raise funds to help prevent the nation's suicide epidemic. The Hoboken Out of the Darkness Community Walk at Stevens is an inspiring and energetic event that raises tens of thousands of dollars annually towards AFSP research, educational programs, advocacy efforts, and support for survivors of loss.

How to Register and Join a Team: Visit the homepage for the Hoboken walk (https://afsp.org/Hoboken), and click the Register Now button at the top of the page to get started right away. You have many choices for how to participate! You can choose to walk individually, start a team, join an existing team, or simply donate. The Stigma Free Stevens team (click to join!) welcomes all walkers from our community. Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st. 

Stevens Dining hours will be adjusted for the Holiday Weekend. Please refer to the list of operation hours for all of the dining options on campus.

Not sure where to go during after hours when Student Health Services is closed? 24-hour virtual care is available through City MD!

For all emergencies, contact campus police directly at 201.216.3911 or your RA (resident assistant). In the case of an off-campus emergency, please contact Hoboken police at 911.

All students are invited and encouraged to participate in a variety of weekend events! First-year students in particular are urged to remain on campus (and commuters are urged to come to campus) to make social connections during your first few weeks as a student.

The Hugo Neu Corporation Sustainability Seminar Series is a weekly series sponsored by Hugo Neu Corporation and jointly sponsored by WSP, HDR, and NOMADICS. Cosponsors are Brown and Caldwell, Dewberry, and H2M Architects and Engineers. The seminars happen every Tuesday between 5:00 – 6:00 PM on Zoom.

This session held in Babbio 219 at 3:30PM is all about building strong, effective teams. Special emphasis will be placed on strategies for building trust within teams, creating a foundation for stronger relationships and more productive group work.

Investing might sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. This workshop is designed to help college students take their first steps toward financial independence. Join Associate Professor Sven Esche IN GATEWAY SOUTH 121 at 6PM for a practical and engaging session that breaks down the basics of investing - from understanding stocks and mutual funds to building a portfolio and setting financial goals.

Athletics is teaming up with Student Life to bring you the first-ever outdoor movie on DeBaun Field. Bring your chairs, bring your towels, and come on down and enjoy a Thursday movie night out on our athletics field!

Join us for Game Night from 6–10 PM in Techflex! Come hang out with friends, play board games and poker, and enjoy free food and drinks. Hosted by Undergraduate Student Life—don’t miss out on the fun!

Join Stevens Outdoor Adventure for a hiking trip along the Appalachian Trail, ending at Greenwood Lake. This trail will be about 6.5 miles long. Registration in DSE is required and will open on Wednesday, 9/24/25. There is a $5 fee payable through directions in DSE after registering.

Intramural Indoor Soccer League! Games will be played on Sunday nights from 5 PM to 11 PM in Canavan Arena, running from October 19th to December 14th. The season will wrap up with a 2-week playoff bracket to determine the champions.

Join online at 4 PM to learn to recognize and correct common mistakes in your writing that confuse your claims and frustrate your reader.

Join Campus Recreation and Stevens Outdoor Adventure for an information meeting in the Schaefer Conference room at 9PM about our trip to Costa Rica over spring break. We will discuss all the logistics of the trip such as locations that we will stay at, attractions, accommodations, activities and cost.
