It's a Matter of Trust
by Terri Watkins
I spent most of my adult life working in the media, first as a radio reporter and then in television. I wanted to be a reporter from the time I started reading Nancy Drew and never stopped. When I was studying Political Science and then Journalism, it was an honored and respected profession.
The business had overcome the days of muckraking and become an educated and respected profession.
Reporters kept some businesses and many politicians honest. Some politicians, and even business leaders, contemplated their mistakes while in prison where the public believed they needed to be due to the details of the secret deals make public by a reporter.

“Membership” Wait! Before you stop reading past the first word and think this is going to be just another memo on how to grow Rotary, I challenge you to keep reading. I understand that it can be daunting to hear the same spill on “let’s focus on membership, membership, membership”. I realize that you know that’s a focus and probably don’t need to be reminded in every article. That’s why this is different, this is a memo to say Congratulations! I received a call from our zone leaders this week to say congratulations to our district. At this point in the year, as a district we are a net positive in membership and new members! It’s refreshing to hear and a sign that you’re doing it right. So in the spirit of a good ol' memo on membership, keep doing what you’re doing. Be contagious, let Rotary do the heaving lifting and you just be you. It will be noticed and we will keep this trend going. Thank you and cheers to a great second half of the Rotary Year! Matt Tipton District Governor 2021-2022

2022-2023 Rotary International Theme Announced RI President-elect Jennifer Jones
Jennifer Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, revealed the 2022-23 presidential theme, Imagine Rotary, as she urged people to dream big and harness their connections and the power of Rotary to turn those dreams into reality.
“Imagine, a world that deserves our best,” Jones told incoming district governors on 20 January, “where we get up each day knowing that we can make a difference.”
Jones, who will make history on 1 July by becoming Rotary’s first female president, gave a live online address to precede Rotary’s annual training event for district governors from around the world, the International Assembly.
