Mental Health Association Oklahoma 

Terri L. White, MSW, Chief Executive Officer joined Mental Health Association Oklahoma as Chief Executive Officer in August 2020. Under her direction, the Association continues to expand the reach of its innovative programs and services designed to serve Oklahomans and their loved ones, affected by mental illness, homelessness, substance use and justice involvement.White is the former commissioner for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). She served as commissioner from May 2007 to February 2020.  READ MORE

Bah! Humbug!

Bah! Humbug! Who said it best? Why, of course, that classic figure from English literature, Ebenezer Scrooge, in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Dickens writes:

 
“Oh! But he was a tight-fisted hand at the grind stone, Scrooge! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner! Hard and sharp as flint from which no steel had ever struck out generous fire; secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster. The cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, shriveled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his thin lips blue and spoke shrewdly in his grating voice.
“On Christmas Eve Scrooge sits at his desk in his country house office. Bob Cratchit, his underpaid clerk, sits shivering in the next room. Scrooge’s nephew comes to the office. “A merry Christmas, Uncle! God save you.”
“Bah!” said Scrooge. “Humbug! ... Merry Christmas! What’s Christmastime to you but a time for paying bills without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, but not an hour richer; a time for balancing your books.  READ MORE

Oct. 3  we announced the OnePledge Committee’s selection of The Dragonfly Home for the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City’s 2023-2024 project.

The Dragonfly Home is a vital organization that specializes in providing comprehensive support and resources for victims/survivors of human trafficking. The Dragonfly Home is dedicated to helping victims/survivors rebuild their lives, regain their independence, and find healing.  They play a crucial role in raising awareness, offering safe spaces, and providing survivors with the tools and support they need to escape the cycle of exploitation.
