The Story of Pie Junkie: A Sweet Success
| |
|
What started as a hobby became a local sensation for former stay-at-home moms Darcy Schein and Leslie Coale-Mossman when they started cooking together in 2010. After catering and teaching cooking classes out of a rented church kitchen, Darcy and Leslie began baking fresh pies for a variety of restaurants around Oklahoma City. Their word-of-mouth business grew exponentially and the women shifted their business to focus solely on pies by renaming the company Pie Junkie in 2011. READ MORE

Relationships are the Real Currencyby Emily Taylor
In business, we tend to measure everything in dollars.
Revenue. Margins. Growth rates. Valuations.
Those numbers matter, but they are not the thing that actually drives them.
What I have seen over time is this: the real currency is not money. It is relationships.
Every meaningful opportunity I have been part of, every client, every partnership, every piece of growth, can be traced back to a relationship. Not a transaction. Not a cold outreach. A relationship.
Someone knew someone.
Someone trusted someone.
Someone made an introduction.
And over time, that compounds.
What Rotary does, whether we always say it out loud or not, is create an environment where that kind of compounding can happen. Not overnight. Not in a forced way. But consistently.
Week after week, you sit next to the same people. You learn what they care about. You see how they think. You watch how they show up.
And that builds something you cannot shortcut: trust. READ MORE

| Proposed Amendment to Club Bylaws for June 9 Membership Vote
After over a year of discussion, research, and evaluation, the Club 29 Board recommends a change to the club bylaws to elect directors of the club on a slate, rather than by individual head-to-head elections. The vote on the proposal will be held at the regular meeting of the Club on June 9, 2026. Only those present at the meeting will have an opportunity to vote. Comparison Clubs and History Research into other large clubs indicates that Club 29 has been much more democratic in the election of officers and directors than Birmingham, Atlanta, and Nashville - our peer clubs representing 3 of the largest five clubs in America. In those clubs, much of the process of officer and director selection is dominated by the club president. In one case, the president appoints his/her own board.
