The Student Government Association is kicking off our Presidential Election. I am excited to share the following details for those interested in running for a position or interested in voting in this year’s SGA election.
Requirements to run: Any student interested in running for President or Vice-President of Operations must be in good academic and community standing, and the student must have at least second-year status. The President and Vice-President of Operations run as a pair on a joint ticket.
Intent To Run: If you’re interested in running for President, fill out the following form which opens starting today October 30, and remains open until the end of the day on Tuesday, November 5.
Nominations Period: During the Nominations Period, candidates must collect 5% of the undergraduate student body’s nomination via a Google Form to move on to the Elections Period. The nominations period will take place from Wednesday, November 6 until the end of the day on Tuesday, November 12.
Election Period: If there is a contested election, the voting period will run from November 17 to the end of the day on November 23. The candidates (President and Vice-President of Operations) with the most votes at the end of the voting period will be elected and announced after November 23.
Election Integrity: The SGA strives to abide by the highest standard of election integrity. All election materials must be approved by the SGA’s elections committee. All candidates and community members must conduct their campaigns consistent with our community standards (outlined in Student Handbook). If you assume someone has violated the election guidelines, direct all concerns to nsmith8@stevens.edu.
The Student Government President, Vice-President of Operations, and the new Cabinet will officially be inaugurated on January 17, 2025.
If you have any questions on Presidential Elections or more general to the SGA, reach out to sga@stevens.edu.
