UCO Wrestling Wins Fifth Straight Regional Title

Peter Rolle, Gabe Johnson, Hunter Jump and Garrett Wells all captured individual titles to lead Central Oklahoma to its fifth consecutive NCAA Division II Super Regional IV championship. All 10 wrestlers placed in the top six for the No. 4-ranked Bronchos, who finished with 147.5 points in the 10-team tournament to win their 25th regional title.

Six Bronchos will compete at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships March 14-15, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

'Making Meaning in the American West' Lecture, March 6

UCO's Department of History and Geography will host the next installment of the “Making Meaning in the American West” lecture series at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 6, in the UCO Liberal Arts building, Lecture Hall. The lecture will feature a presentation by Candessa Tehee, Ph.D., associate professor of foreign language at Northeastern State University, titled “Cherokee Women from Nancy Ward to Wilma Mankiller.” The lecture is free and open to students, faculty and staff. 

 

Panel Discussion on Collaboration Between SLPs and BCBAs, March 5

The Master of Science in Behavior Analysis and Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology programs will host a panel discussion on interprofessional collaboration between speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and board-certified behavior analysts (BCBAs) and how we can better prepare our graduate students in these programs at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, in the Education building, Room 102. Registration is not required.

 

Karen Davis Retirement Reception, March 10

The UCO School of Nursing will host a retirement reception honoring Karen Davis from 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 10, in the MidFirst Bank Conference Room on the third floor of Old North. The Central community is welcome to attend. Register online. 

Davis has served as the academic advisor for nursing for the past nine years and previously worked for the College of Education and Professional Studies. In addition to her role, she assists UCO President Todd G. Lamb at each of the graduation ceremonies.

UCO Track and Field set school records at the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Kerrigan Huynh, Sai Brookins-Fleming, Deriayah Lee and Treasure Vallerie set the school record in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:48.73. Lee also set a record in the 60-meter hurdles with a 8.82. Genevieve Young set a record in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:25.53.
