Summer is winding down as we look toward fall harvest. Silage is beginning to come off fields and tweaks to combines are being made. The latest drought report (9/3/2026) shows that most of the region is still under a D0 drought with portions of Juneau County in D1 drought. As I write this, we are getting a solid amount of rain, so hopefully the precipitation will help bring us out of drought conditions. Our fall seasonal outlook is learning towards a warmer Sep-Nov.  

We have had a lot of great events locally over the last few weeks, and I look forward to more as we move into fall.  

As silage is harvested, if you have moisture reports, please send them my way. The Crops and Soils Team contributes dry down data to the Corn Silage Dry Down Monitoring Tool.
