Truth, Quantum Physics, and Artificial Intelligence

We are in a time of shifting paradigms where the past is no longer a good predictor of the future. Because of the rapid advances in, and society’s general lack of understanding in Artificial Intelligence in general and the Quantum world in specific, we are experiencing uncertainty to a degree unparalleled in history.
Newtonian science describes the everyday world of objects, motion, and forces that we experience directly. Quantum physics, by contrast, is used to describe the behavior of matter and energy at the atomic and subatomic level. Newtonian science is deterministic with exact laws and formulas used to describe, for example, the exact future position of a moving object. Quantum science is probabilistic, not able to give exact paths; only providing the chance or likelihood of where a particle might be. In fact, the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle (first published in 1927 and a fundamental concept in Quantum Mechanics) says that “there is a limit to the precision with which certain pairs of physical properties, such as position and momentum, can be simultaneously known.”

Armenian delegates from the COIL (Congressional Office for International Leadership) - Open World program will be guests at the Tuesday luncheon. Thank you to co-chairs Lisa Hammond and Suzanne Mitchell and committee members Mary Jane Calvey, Heather Coyle, Randy Grau, Keith Oehlert, Marion Paden, Senthil Raju, Amber Sharples, and Kathryn Wilson Wheeler. This international program takes intense planning and coordination. The judges will visit different venues in the area Sept. 11 - 19.

2027-2028 Officers & Directors Nomination Open
Soon, our nominating committee will begin their work to identify individuals to stand for election to serve on our 2027-2028 board under the leadership of Chair David Walters and Vice Chair Marion Paden. Eligible members to stand for election will have been in the club at least 3 years at the time the ballot opens in November. If you would like to nominate an individual or yourself for the committee to consider, you may say submit a nomination form. Nominations are due no later than September 30 for consideration.
