Fingerprints of God

This week in chapel with the 1st - 3rd grades, we will put their fingerprints on a bulletin board.

We will talk about how they are God's hands, feet, and heart in the world.

Each week, I will ask them a question to help them notice God's fingerprints in the world.

So our first question will be, where did you see kindness this week? It could be something they did, or someone else did. They may have multiple examples. Because it was a holiday week, we will repeat this question.

Next week's questions will be where did you see beauty?

Westminster

Children’s Choir Program

The Children’s Choir Program at Westminster Presbyterian Church offers our children, Kindergarten through 5th graders, the perfect opportunity to experience the Christian year through music and to participate actively in our services of worship. The children sing the great hymns of our faith, learn music reading, and experience Orff instruments. It is our goal to develop each individual for a lifetime of service to the church and to encourage them to sing correctly with beauty and sincerity so that each choir might be a truly inspirational part of worship.

Alleluia Choir (Kindergarten)

The Alleluia Choir is taught by Nancy Bieschke, a highly gifted teacher who specializes in early music education. This choir develops musically through singing and rhythmic activities, games, movement, and the use of Orff instruments. The Alleluia Choir sings and leads worship for Children’s Sabbath, Christmas Eve, and Palm Sunday. They rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 4:50 PM in room 208.

Gloria Choir (grades 1-2)

In the Gloria Choir, children continue to develop their singing voices and rhythmic skills. They learn to read music notation and participate in worship through the singing of hymns and anthems. Learning the hymns of our faith is a regular part of their rehearsals. The Gloria Choir always sings for Children’s Sabbath, Christmas Eve, and Palm Sunday. They also join the Jubilate Choir to sing several other Sundays throughout the year. The Gloria Choir is directed by Roberta Rodgers. They rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 4:50 PM in room 224.

Jubilate Choir (grades 3-5)

The Jubilate Choir continues to build upon skills developed in the younger children’s choirs. More advanced music is offered to these children who sing in worship throughout the year. They join the other choirs for Children’s Sabbath, Christmas Eve, and Palm Sunday. Ally Hard is an experienced Choir Director and pedagogue and will be directing the Jubilate Choir. They rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 4:50 PM in room 218.

Chiming Children Handbell Choir (grades 3-5)

Children’s Handbells ensemble is a fantastic opportunity for older children to further develop their music skills. Directed by Ally Hard, they learn Handbell playing technique and focus on reading music notation. They rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 5:00-5:50 PM in Room 224 and play for the 11:00 AM Worship on Children’s Sabbath as well as the 2:00 PM Christmas Eve service.
