This is week two of our special Advent series. Over the coming weeks of the season leading up to Christmas, NMI Central and Kids Kaleidoscope will introduce you to some of the unique traditions that are kept across the global Church of the Nazarene. We hope you enjoy this wonderful season of Advent, Christmastide, and Epiphany.
Advent became an expression of love: God’s love for the world. Christ’s coming would be the greatest revelation of a loving God. Jesus tells his disciples that love would be the telling quality that would help others to know we belong to him. Keeping his commandment to love one another would make God’s presence obvious in the world.
What are some ways to show love to others? God sent his Son to this world out of love. We are called to love those around us. One way we can show love is by getting to know our neighbors. People are often moving and living in places far from where they are born. As you go around the area where you live, do you hear languages different from your own? What an opportunity to show love through a simple smile.
To learn how to say Merry Christmas in another language, check out this week's Kids Kaleidoscope. Kids Kaleidoscope is a special NMI Central supplement created to help children, youth, and adults learn more about their Nazarene family around the world.
Enjoy this wonderful season of Advent, Christmastide, and Epiphany. Though we may celebrate in different ways, we are united in this: Christ is the center of Christmas. Turn your focus to him, and as the angels sang, “Rejoice!”
