Class of 2024

  • Save the Date! Senior Parent Night: We invite ALL senior parents (students should attend too!) to come on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 6:30pm in the Worship Center to hear all about what the details of what will be happening this year, specifically for your senior. 

  • College Applications - Ever wonder what a "great" college application looks like?  Click here to read an article about the Secrets of a Great College Application to gain some insight before you start your application this fall!

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all seniors is to complete and turn in a minimum of 20 service hours. These hours need to have been completed starting June 10, 2023 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours to the front office. Forms available in Mrs. Reinmuth's office or on our website.

Class of 2025

  • College Reps on campus! Starting at the end of September, we will have several college reps on campus in the library.  Schools respresented and times will be announced soon, but make sure you make a point to visit with these college reps when they are here! Even if you aren't interested in the school, you will learn valuable information about how to talk about college and find out the important questions to ask.

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all juniors is to complete and turn in a minimum of 15 service hours. These hours need to have been completed starting June 10, 2023 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours to the front office. Forms available in Mrs. Reinmuth's office or on our website.

Class of 2026

  • Now is the a good time to start thinking about college! It may seem early to start thinking about getting your child ready for college, but it really isn’t — important groundwork should take place in 9th and 10th grades. Click here for a list to help you make sure your child is on the right path.

Class of 2027

  • Welcome to high school!  This newsletter comes out monthly and will be FULL of information throughout your high school career to help with getting successfully through high school at SCA as well as help in making plans for your future.  Please know that I am ALWAYS available to meet with you and discuss your high school career or your plans for post high school.

NACAC College Fair 2023

The National Association for College Admission Counseling is pleased to invite you to the 2023 NACAC National College Fair - Seattle, which will be held at the Seattle Convention Center. This year the Fair will be held on the following dates: 

Friday, October 6, 2023 – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 7, 2023 –12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.


What you’ll see:
* Over 200 diverse colleges and universities offering a wide variety of educational options. 
* Presentations on Financial Aid, the College Essay and more both days for students and parents
* College Advising Center that offers students and parents a variety of counseling services relating to college admission and financial aid.  

Register in advance by going to https://www.nacacattend.org/23Seattle.
* Smart phone registration is available.  Barcodes can be scanned directly from a smartphone or printed out and brought to the fair. Registration will also be available on-site. 
  • Save the Date! SCA's College Workshop will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 6:30pm in the SCA Worship Center.  We encourage all our juniors and seniors (and their parents) who are planning to attend college after high school to attend this information night.  Sophomores and freshman are welcome as well if you would like to get a jump start on the future. 

  • College Reps on Campus - Several schools will be sending a college rep to our campus to talk with students personally.  Schools represented, dates and times will be announced soon! 

  • Visit a College Fair! Not just for seniors, college fairs are a great way for anyone thinking of attending college in the futre to meet an admissions rep in person and get exposure to many colleges at one time.  Two important college fairs are coming up - the Christian College Fair in Tacoma on September 26, 2023 and the National College Fair in Seattle on October 6 & 7, 2023 (see above). Mark your calendar to make sure and visit these fun and important events.  

  • CLEP Testing - Ever heard of CLEP testing?  Did you know this is a great, inexpensive way for students to check off some of those college credits?  For over 50 years, the College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) has offered exams at a fraction of the price of a college course, saving you hundreds of dollars. CLEP exams let you test out of introductory courses and move to more advanced courses sooner, saving time toward your degree. Learn more at clep.collegeboard.org/.

  • College isn't for everyone!  Here at SCA we believe that God has a calling for each of our students and that doesn't always mean attending college!  This is a great article talking about some of the alternatives out there for those who don't feel led to pursue a college experience.  Deciding What to do With Your Life & Career in High School
  • FREE MONEY! My motto is that you won't receive scholarship money if you don't apply!  Several upcoming scholarships are currently located on our website.  Make sure to check back often. So many scholarships have been added recently!

  • Scholarship Search Engines: Remember, you should never have to pay for a scholarship search! A few good searches include Big FutureFastwebScholarships.com, and Going Merry 

  • Thinking of attending Washington State University? The WSU Regents Scholars Program looks for top performing high school students. Students who demonstrate themselves as community leaders, academic innovators, and committed scholars are recognized by the WSU Regents Scholars Program. High school educators and administrators may nominate their two most distinguished seniors for the Regents Scholars Program. If you are interested in attending WSU and would like to be nominated, please contact Mrs. Reinmuth for more information.

Volunteer Hours!
Did you volunteer this summer?  Work at a SCA sports camp? Or help out at your church's VBS? Don't forget to turn your hours into the front office.  You can either complete this form or have your volunteer organizer send an email to areinmuth@soundchristianacademy.org (it can't come from the student or the parent).  Remember, all high school students are required to have the following number of volunteer hours:

Seniors (20 hours)
Juniors (15 hours)
Sophomores (10 hours)
Freshmen (5 hours)
