Commencement in-person and virtual ceremonies
|
UTA will celebrate the accomplishments of its newest Maverick alumni with ceremonies Friday, Dec. 15, at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The University is working with Globe Life Field to make the in-person commencement ceremony a safe, positive, and memorable experience for all. The ceremony time will be approximately two to two and a half hours. The scheduled start times for each college along with links to virtual ceremonies are below.
9 a.m. - The colleges of Business and Liberal Arts and the School of Social Work
2 p.m. - The colleges of Education, Engineering, Science, and Honors
7 p.m. - College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs, College of Nursing and Health Innovation, and the Division of Student Success

Alumna recognized for her dedication to helping Mavericks

Sandra Esquivel, associate director of regional operations, partnerships, and community outreach at UTA, helps high school seniors navigate the application process and mentors Maverick students who need guidance through college life. Esquivel’s work earned her recognition as a 2023 recipient of the Mujeres Legendarias Award presented by the Ford Motor Company.

UTA PD wins its 12th consecutive National Night Out Award
|
The UTA Police Department has now been recognized by the National Association of Town Watch with the National Night Out Award for 12 years in a row. UTA Police was one of six university police departments to earn the designation in 2023, with four UT System institutions represented.
Senior Public Safety Officer Jackie Carter played a pivotal role in leading the committee, and each member elevated the standard of commitment to a commendable level. The UTA Police Department’s achievement necessitated the dedicated efforts of a substantial portion of its department, truly exemplifying a collaborative team effort. The department expresses its sincere appreciation to the community volunteers, vendors, and donors, whose invaluable contributions made another successful year possible.

Campus-wide steam outage scheduled for Sunday
|
The Office of Facilities Management has planned a campus-wide steam outage to repair a leaking component in the steam distribution system. This outage is scheduled to begin at 3 a.m. Sunday, Dec.17. Normal operations should resume by 8 p.m.
During the designated time, the buildings served by the thermal energy plant will be without hot water and steam. This includes heated water for the swimming pool. Temperatures within the buildings may drop during the steam outage since heat will not be operational. Building temperatures are expected to be normal for business and academic activities on Monday, Dec. 18. Electrical power, air conditioning, chilled water, and domestic cold-water services will still be available.

|
The Intercultural Student Engagement Center is accepting events centered on educational and social issues, community building, and identity affirmation for the nationally recognized heritage and history months. Submissions will be included on a University graphic calendar marketed to the UTA community. Sign up now. The deadline to register an event for Black History Month is Wednesday, Dec. 20.
