Downtown Tucson Partnership Receives "Hero Award"
The Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) was recently honored by the Minority and Small Business Alliance of Southern Arizona and the U.S. Small Business Administration with the “Hero Award” for their commitment to Downtown Tucson and their efforts to help those that are struggling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kathleen Eriksen, CEO of the DTP was thrilled with the honor and accepted the award on behalf of the entire DTP team. “I am so proud of our staff. Their commitment and dedication is evident by the work they do every day to keep downtown safe, clean and beautiful; while concurrently helping businesses survive and adapt. The staff’s effort this past year has been truly heroic. In August, we lost a valuable team member, Joe Dominguez to COVID. We dedicate this award to Joe. He was true a Hero and is greatly missed."
Members of the DTP team include: Zach Baker, Lazaro Cabrera, Eric Christenson, Alfredo Cielo Jr, Kathleen Eriksen, Jorge Felix, Jose Garcia, Matthew Guzman, Nathan Guzman, Harold Harris, Adrian Mercado, Whitney Nesbitt, Daniel Romero, Antoine Smith, Rashawn Smith, Timothy Steele, Russell Stone, Tom Vanata and Ryan Whitney.

In an effort to create transparency, the City has created an easy-to-use website to illustrate how funding was distributed.

Pima County said it quickly would expand capacity to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine. It has. “We can put vaccine into people’s arms,” said Pima County Chief Medical Officer and Deputy County Administrator Dr. Francisco Garcia. “We are ready to go. All we are waiting on is for vaccine to be available.”
Five regional COVID-19 vaccine centers are operational, including three that came on board the week of Jan. 18 as part of Pima County’s accelerated plan.
