Maya Livio was an invited panelist at an NYC Climate Week discussion on "Memorializing Ecological Loss," hosted at the historic Green-Wood Cemetery in partnership with Columbia University's Climate School.
Patricia Aufderheide gave a book talk on Sep. 24, with Peter Jaszi, for the Internet Archive's Book Talk series, on Reclaiming Fair Use: How to Put Balance Back in Copyright and the movement that it launched to assert the important user right of fair use in a range of creative disciplines, including filmmaking, journalism, teaching, nonfiction publishing, archiving, preservation, and research library practices.
Patricia also gave an online book talk on her latest book, Kartemquin FIlms: Documentaries on the Frontlines of Democracy, to the Visible Evidence network. Visible Evidence is a worldwide network of documentary studies scholars, who meet annually to share recent research. This talk was scheduled as a special event. At the conference, in Melbourne, Australia this December, Aufderheide's work with Koreans will also be featured, as well as a paper based on the Kartemquin book.

Filippo Trevisan co-organized – with Nanette Levinson (SIS) and Derrick Cogburn (SIS/Kogod) – the Digital Media, Identity, Culture, and Inclusion mini-track at the 58th Hawai’i International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS), which will take place in January 2025. This mini-track had an acceptance rate of 46% and we look forward to very lively sessions on topics ranging from aging in a digitalized world to disability inclusion in app design.

For the Media Party NYC and the Brown Institute at Columbia Journalism School event on “Future of Journalism, AI, and Their Impact on Democracies,” Aarushi will speak about “Visualizing election data with Large Language Models.”
