WAC Volleyball Tournament

Your Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season volleyball champions are looking to take another title as they begin their WAC tournament journey tonight against Abilene Christian University. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at College Park Center, with the doors opening at 6 p.m. Purchase tickets at utatickets.com.

College of Education leadership update

Effective Jan. 1, 2025, Ann Cavallo, assistant vice provost and director of the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence, will assume the role of interim dean of the College of Education. Dr. Cavallo will shadow Tim Jacobbe for the remainder of his tenure as dean, which concludes Tuesday, Dec. 31. Read the full message from Provost Brown.

CONHI leadership update

Effective immediately, Tanya Sudia, senior associate dean for nursing, has assumed the role of chief nursing officer. In addition, Dr. Sudia will assume the role of interim dean on Jan. 1, 2025. Dean Elizabeth Merwin will remain in her role through Tuesday, Dec. 31, working closely with Sudia to get her up to speed on these roles to ensure a seamless transition. Sudia will remain in the interim dean and chief nursing officer roles until a permanent dean is hired. Read the full message from Provost Brown.

NAHM dinner

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Connection Cafe will offer braised beef stew, wild rice pilaf, Indian fry bread, and cannellini bean succotash today, Thursday, Nov. 21, 5-9 p.m. The Intercultural Student Programming Board, Native American Student Association, Intercultural Student Engagement Center, and Maverick Dining are coming together for this meal. A meal swipe can be used for those who have meal plans, and all other guests can enjoy the buffet for $10.89.

Dance Deconstructed

UTA’s Department of Theatre Arts and Dance presents Dance Deconstructed Nov. 22-24 at the Mainstage Theater. Dance Deconstructed features innovative works by faculty and student choreographers that re-imagine storytelling through dynamic movement. Purchase a ticket for $15 at utatickets.com.

Smokeout

Today, Tuesday, Nov. 21, is the American Cancer Society’s Smokeout, a campaign that challenges people to quit smoking or make a plan to quit. If you need extra support, visit the Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement’s website for tobacco cessation programs. The UT SELECT Medical plan covers a variety of options at no out-of-pocket cost to help you succeed.

Honors Research Symposium

The Honors Research Symposium is the culmination of months of hard work and dedication of honors students who have conducted undergraduate research in various disciplines. This semester’s poster presentations will be tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 22, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Rio Grande Ballroom of the University Center.

MyUTA, a one-stop destination for your UTA experience, is now live! Users can access frequently used tools, such as academic resources, UTA email, campus maps, and parking availability. MyUTA is hosted at my.uta.edu, which is the new way to find MyMav. There are no changes to the MyMav login process.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to this year's annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 5-8 p.m. at the Connection Cafe. One meal plan swipe can be used to enter. Those without a meal plan will pay $10.89 (plus tax) at the door. If you would like to pay for your staff or students' dinner, email your department's cost center number and a list of your staff/students' full names and Mav ID numbers to globalengagement@uta.edu.
