About UW–Madison Extension Human Development & Relationships Institute (HDRI)

The Extension Institute of Human Development & Relationships provides the tools Wisconsinites need to thrive as well-rounded, capable individuals and families. We support families in caring for each other in ways that promote growth and understanding. Our programs promote aging-friendly communities, coach effective parents and help families put technology, mindfulness, and financial awareness to use.

Below are upcoming local & statewide events & workshops provided by the UW Extension Family & Finance program.

Registration is highly encouraged for all events & workshops. All of these events can be found on our local and/or statewide Extension website for families or finance.

Resilient Co-Parenting: Relationship Readiness

Sept 4, 2025 | 7-8pm | Virtual

Are you entering into a new romantic relationship? Learn tips to help your children adjust to new relationships.

Focus on Fathers: Fathers Teach Children to be Good Citizens

Sept 9, 2025 | 6-7pm | Virtual

Come learn simple, effective ways to teach your child how to make smart decisions, speak up for themselves, and stay safe.

 

Triple P: Positive Parenting Program - 9am | 6pm

Sept 9-30, 2025 (weekly Tuesdays) | 9-10:30am or 6-7:30pm | Virtual

Intended for parents with kids age 0-12, but all are welcome!

Boost confidence, learn simple strategies for raising happy, healthy children. Includes bedtime routines.

How to Help Your Child Who Feels Down: A Training for Parents 

Sept 24 & Oct 1, 2025 | 7-8:15pm | Virtual

Children feeling a little down and feeling the blues? When this happens, it can be hard for children and adults to navigate the emotions. This two-part class will teach you the knowledge and research-based skills understanding what “mood is” and how caregivers can help children improve their mood.

RENT Smart

The Family Engagement and Relationships (FER) program at UW–Madison Extension Dane County support strong family engagement and other interpersonal relationships that significantly contribute to the health and well-being of individuals, communities, and economics. Extension provides well-researched, quality information and programs to further support parenting and family relationships. The Financial Education Program at UW–Madison Extension of Dane County helps families and individuals to achieve financial well-being, reach for financial goals, planning for life’s unexpected events, and build a secure financial future.
