The UTA Planetarium is now equipped with a Digistar 7 projection system, the most advanced technology commercially available to planetariums. The Planetarium has hosted several public events at the observatory, with more planned in the coming months. Of particular interest is the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

| UTA Climate Action Plan Kickoff

The Office of Sustainability is initiating its Climate Action Plan. Organizers will outline goals, strategies, and collaborative efforts to combat climate change at the UTA Climate Action Plan Kickoff, set for Monday, Jan. 22, 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Rio Grande Ballroom of the University Center. RSVP for the event, which is open to UTA employees and students.

| College of Science announces new Division of Data Science
|
The new Division of Data Science (DDS) will serve as an umbrella to organize, provide infrastructure support, and facilitate growth in instructional and research programs involving data science. The main mission of DDS is to promote, foster, and advance education and research programs in different disciplines in the College of Science through data-driven approaches.

You are invited to the EDGE Center Open House on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2-6 p.m. in Science Hall, Room 322. The EDGE Center strives to improve the success of underrepresented graduate students at UTA and to support them as they navigate life through graduate school. The EDGE Center provides a student-focused, centrally located space where students are invited to relax, work, and enjoy the Center and its resources.

New faculty and staff are welcome to join a campus tour on the last Thursday of every month. Guided walking tours last approximately 1.5 hours. To attend, arrive at the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center, 580 South Center Street, about 15 minutes before the start time. To foster fun, create lasting memories, and help build children's social, emotional, and physical lives, Camp Arlington at UTA will offer summer day camp to children ages 3-5 and to children entering first through fifth grade. Kidventure’s camp curriculum will include athletics, art, team building, rock climbing, archery, field trips, special guests, yoga, and fine and gross motor skills. Priority registration for UTA faculty members will begin Tuesday, January 30, with discounts for two or more children in the same family, UTA faculty members, and AISD teachers.

It connects staff with mentors in leadership positions and covers topics such as personal marketing and branding, solutions orientation, feedback, and autonomous engagement.
