September 30 Proclaimed Emergency Management Professionals' Day

During the September 17, 2024, Orange County Board of County Commissioners meeting September 30, 2024, was proclaimed Emergency Management Professionals’ Day. The Emergency Management Program includes a robust network of professionals throughout the community including County and municipal governments, public health and healthcare, public school districts and higher education, and the Orange Water and Sewer Authority.

Orange County Register of Deeds Offers Fraud Detection Service

Recently a home owner in Raleigh discovered that a stranger was able to file a deed on his home without his knowledge. Orange County offers a Fraud Detection Notification service that would have prevented this from happening. This service is provided to you on behalf of the Orange County Register of Deeds office. The purpose of this service is to provide you with email notifications when a document is recorded in the Register of Deeds office that matches your name.

Orange County Animal Services is offering The Pat Sanford Animal Welfare Grant, a program to support animal welfare initiatives and projects in Orange County. The maximum award is $500.

The grant can be used for a wide range of pilot or seed projects or to supplement other programs, projects, and grants which support companion animals, including those animals used in recreation or therapy. It is available to individuals, groups, and organizations and although the recipients do not have to live in Orange County, the funds must be used to aid animal welfare efforts in Orange County.
