|
Undergraduate and graduate students in North Texas are invited to apply for a spot in a technology and business plan competition by Sunday, Jan. 7. The Spirit of Innovation competition was created for students who want to create a technology solution for a real problem. The winners will receive cash prizes. EXCEL Campus Activities is the official student-led programming board that hosts large-scale events on campus such as Foam Mania, Homecoming Bash, Mavs Meet After Party, Bed Races, Fright Night, and more. Apply to be a member before Friday, Jan. 26 for a chance to build connections and enhance your leadership and communication skills.

Construction of Maverick Hall
|
The construction of Maverick Hall, scheduled for from now through Aug. 1, 2025, will impact West Hall and Timber Brook residents parking in the WC parking lot. A portion of the WC parking lot will close permanently, while a section closest to Timber Brook will remain open and available to residents with a Resident West permit. Alternative parking for Resident West permit holders is available in Meadow Run, University Village, and Arbor Oaks parking lots, and on-street general parking is available along Summit Drive. View the UTA Parking Finder app and click on a parking lot to view the current occupancy; adjust your arrival time to see future parking lot occupancy at your estimated arrival time.

| LSAMP Summer Research Academy
|
Undergraduate sophomores and juniors majoring in one of the exciting fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics are invited to preview a graduate program by applying to the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation Summer Research Academy (SRA) by Friday, Feb. 9, 5 p.m. The SRA allows participants to pay a summer visit to a host institution within the UT System. Scholars receive a $4,000 summer stipend plus up to $500 in travel assistance.

Bridges under construction
|
Both the north and south pedestrian bridges are under construction, with no elevator service available. The South Bridge will reopen Monday, Jan. 15, and the North Bridge will remain closed until Friday, March 15. When the South Bridge reopens, the Office of Facilities Management will be checking the elevators daily to ensure they are functioning properly. The Central Bridge will remain open and available throughout the construction project.

Global Seal of Biliteracy
|
UTA students who speak a language in addition to English can test their proficiency to receive the Global Seal of Biliteracy, a micro-credential that conveys language proficiency. The test is offered in more than 40 languages through the Department of Modern Languages. Email proficiency@uta.edu for more information.
