Office of Spiritual and Religious Life
WISE Pre-Orientation at BAPS Hindu Mandir
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Emory University's Buddhist Chaplaincy and the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL). The fall semester has started with great enthusiasm in Emory's Buddhist and spiritual communities. Our weekly Buddhist meditation gatherings on Thursday evening are averaging more than 30 participants each week, including freshmen and returning undergrads and graduate students. To accommodate our growing community and the hybrid set-up of the gatherings we are purchasing a new set of meditation cushions and a new webcam.
This semester we have also added a second weekly gathering on Mondays for meditation and community. We are getting ready for our fall Buddhist Retreat at the Mountain Retreat and Learning Center on October 1-2, with 30 undergraduates--our largest group so far.

WISE 2022 visit to Kim Cang Monastery
Upcoming projects for Buddhist Life include enhancing the Living Mandala Garden with a walking path around the garden and a sign, preparing a Buddhist shrine/altar for the large Buddha statue that was donated last semester, and organizing a Bodhi Day celebration at the end of the semester. We are also organizing a Mandala-art program in collaboration with Emory Professor Cheryl Crowley. As always, you are most welcome to participate in these programs.
Back in August, we led a group of students from Emory OSRL's Welcoming Interfaith and Spiritual Exploration (WISE) Pre-Orientation program to the Kim Cang Monastery for a Buddhist experience led by Venerable Dong Hue.
Emory Homecoming 2022
Please join Emory OSRL at Homecoming 2022 on October 20-23. There are many events throughout the weekend, including a Buddhist Meditation Gathering on Saturday, October 22. Please also come visit us that day from Noon-5:30 p.m. at the OSRL Affinity Tent on the main quad. See our schedule of programs here.
Please also consider renewing your support of Emory Buddhist Life by participating in Emory Giving Week, especially on Thursday, November 3. Besides your donation of any amount, you can also volunteer as a social media ambassador, promoting our meaningful programs and our community for added support.
Your support is an integral contribution to the enrichment of Buddhist experience at Emory. We hope you will join us in some of our upcoming programs. Thank you for your continuous support and interest. May you and yours stay well and safe.
With Mettā (loving-kindness),
Venerable Priya Sraman
