I am pleased to announce that Aileen Lopez, BS, has been appointed Interim Director of the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at Augusta University.
Aileen brings more than 15 years of experience in clinical research, including clinical trial operations, regulatory compliance, study start-up, staff management, and research administration. She has served as a Clinical Trials Manager in the CTO since June 2021, providing leadership and oversight of clinical research staff, study operations, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining the CTO, Aileen served as Senior Research Associate and Laboratory Manager for the Georgia Cancer Center's Biorepository and Tumor Bank. Her experience also includes clinical research coordination, laboratory operations, and working closely with investigators and research teams across the institution.
Throughout her time with the CTO, Aileen has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting our staff, improving processes, and ensuring the quality and compliance of our clinical research activities. She understands the challenges our teams face and the importance of working together to support our investigators and the patients who participate in clinical trials.
In her interim role, Aileen will provide leadership for the day-to-day operations of the CTO, support our ongoing improvement initiatives, and continue working with our research teams and institutional partners to strengthen clinical trial operations.
I appreciate Aileen's willingness to step into this leadership role and am confident that her experience, knowledge of our operations, and commitment to the team will serve the office well during this transition.
