If you plan to graduate this fall, don’t miss these important deadlines! Undergraduate students must apply for degree conferral by 11:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19. Graduate students have until 11:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26. Be sure to apply on time because late applications will not be accepted.

To apply, log in to my.unt.edu, go to the Academic Records tile and click Application for Graduation from the side menu.

UNT Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
   HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH   
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually in the United States from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The holiday commemorates the significant contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans on the history, culture and achievements of the United States while honoring the homelands of many of America’s peoples.

The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures’ Spanish section kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month on Tuesday and will host events throughout the month, starting with a Frida Kahlo Workshop at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Language Building 410.

   MAJOR EXPLORATION   
Feeling undecided? You’re not alone! Check out the Exploring Majors Workshops, happening throughout the fall semester. Hosted by the Office of the Provost and Division of Academic Affairs, these sessions will help you explore your values, interests, personality and skills to find the program just right for you!
The sessions begin today, hosted in Sage Hall 342. Can’t make the first workshop? No worries! There are other dates offered, and a virtual option in November.

Student in the Sustainable Arts Garden
   GARDENING & GROWTH   
The Sustainable Arts Garden (formerly the Natural Dye Garden) is an open space that promotes eco-friendly creativity and hosts workshops on natural dyes, recycled papermaking, eco-printing, mending and more. 

The garden is located on Highland Street next to Bain Hall (across from the Coliseum) and there are weekly volunteer workdays every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, with additional workdays on Saturdays throughout the semester. 
Also check out Community Garden and We Mean Green Fund gardening workdays on campus throughout the semester. 

Students, staff, and faculty are welcome for gardening, sustainable crafts and helping to maintain the garden. Stay updated by following @sustainableartsgarden on Instagram!

   STATE OF THE UNIVERSITY  
Save the date! Students are invited to President Keller’s State of the University at 3 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Murchison Performing Arts Center, where he will present UNT’s new five-year strategic plan. The plan was developed over the last year to define our distinct identity and build a vision to elevate the university. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., and a light reception will follow the presentation.

Welcome to the Denton Desert
   WELCOME TO THE DENTON DESERT   
Mean Green football is 3-0! UNT hosted the Washington State Cougars in the “Denton Desert” (a term derived from a Washington State social post) on Saturday and bested them with a score of 59 to 10. You can catch them in action again at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, on the CBS Sports Network as they face Army in West Point, New York. Go Mean Green!
