Hey Friends of Young Life Statesboro,
This winter has been full of reminders of how faithful God is to the mission of Young Life in Statesboro. In December, we had the privilege of taking a group of 65 students and leaders to Weekend Camp at SharpTop Cove. As always, camp created space for kids to step away from the noise of everyday life, build deeper friendships, and hear about Jesus in a way that truly connects with their lives. Watching students laugh, ask hard questions, and experience the love of Christ in that environment is something I never take for granted.
Just a few weeks later, we returned to SharpTop Cove for Work Crew Weekend and had the chance to serve more than 600 middle schoolers. Our team jumped into everything from washing dishes to cooking meals to keeping the dining hall running smoothly. It was a beautiful picture of what it looks like to serve behind the scenes so that other kids can have an unforgettable camp experience.
Back in Statesboro, Monday nights continue to be a highlight of the week as students gather for Young Life club. The room is full of energy, laughter, music, and a clear message about who Jesus is. Throughout the week leaders are also meeting with students in small group Bible studies where they are able to ask deeper questions, read scripture together, and grow in their faith. God continues to grow the mission here in Statesboro. We have placed eight new Young Life leaders this semester and they are already stepping into the lives of students by meeting new kids, showing up at games and lunches, and beginning the slow meaningful work of building relationships. We now have 41 college aged Young Life leaders in Statesboro. It is a gift to watch leaders faithfully show up week after week, investing time, energy, and prayer into the lives of teenagers.
None of this happens without the incredible support of this community. Your generosity, encouragement, and belief in this mission make it possible for leaders to be present in the lives of students across Statesboro. Whether you give financially, pray for our leaders and kids, host gatherings, or simply champion Young Life in conversations around town, you are a meaningful part of what God is doing here. We are deeply grateful for the way this community continues to rally around the mission of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.
Thank you for praying, giving, and walking with us as we get to be part of His story in Statesboro.
Grateful for you,
Trey Walker
