MARCH 2026

“Young Life is a group of people committed to the idea of winning a hearing with kids for the greatest story ever told” - Jim Rayburn, founder of Young Life

Hey Friends of Young Life Statesboro,

This winter has been full of reminders of how faithful God is to the mission of Young Life in Statesboro. In December, we had the privilege of taking a group of 65 students and leaders to Weekend Camp at SharpTop Cove. As always, camp created space for kids to step away from the noise of everyday life, build deeper friendships, and hear about Jesus in a way that truly connects with their lives. Watching students laugh, ask hard questions, and experience the love of Christ in that environment is something I never take for granted.

Just a few weeks later, we returned to SharpTop Cove for Work Crew Weekend and had the chance to serve more than 600 middle schoolers. Our team jumped into everything from washing dishes to cooking meals to keeping the dining hall running smoothly. It was a beautiful picture of what it looks like to serve behind the scenes so that other kids can have an unforgettable camp experience.

Back in Statesboro, Monday nights continue to be a highlight of the week as students gather for Young Life club. The room is full of energy, laughter, music, and a clear message about who Jesus is. Throughout the week leaders are also meeting with students in small group Bible studies where they are able to ask deeper questions, read scripture together, and grow in their faith. God continues to grow the mission here in Statesboro. We have placed eight new Young Life leaders this semester and they are already stepping into the lives of students by meeting new kids, showing up at games and lunches, and beginning the slow meaningful work of building relationships. We now have 41 college aged Young Life leaders in Statesboro. It is a gift to watch leaders faithfully show up week after week, investing time, energy, and prayer into the lives of teenagers.

None of this happens without the incredible support of this community. Your generosity, encouragement, and belief in this mission make it possible for leaders to be present in the lives of students across Statesboro. Whether you give financially, pray for our leaders and kids, host gatherings, or simply champion Young Life in conversations around town, you are a meaningful part of what God is doing here. We are deeply grateful for the way this community continues to rally around the mission of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.

Thank you for praying, giving, and walking with us as we get to be part of His story in Statesboro.

Grateful for you,
Trey Walker

SUMMER CAMP AT WINDY GAP - MAY 31 - JUNE 6
This summer, our high school friends will head to Windy Gap in the NorthCarolina mountains for an unforgettable week at Young Life Camp. From May 31 - June 6, students will experience incredible adventures, laughter-filled activities, meaningful friendships, and most importantly, a chance to hear the Good News of Jesus in a fresh way.

We love Young Life because it creates space for kids to step away from the busyness of school, sports, and screens, and instead encounter God’s love in a beautiful setting. Parents, thank you for entrusting us with your kids—we believe this week can be life-changing, and we’re praying already for all that God will do in and through it.

PORTAL!

We are prayerfully exploring the opportunity to begin Young Life ministry at Portal High School. To make this possible, we are looking for caring adults in that community who would help support and encourage a team of volunteer leaders as they build relationships with students. Your support could play a key role in helping Young Life reach teenagers at Portal with consistent care and the message that they are deeply loved.

Please reach out to Trey Walker (770) 778-2835 if you are interested!

This month we are excited to celebrate Madison as our Leader of the Month! Madison is originally from Jacksonville, Florida, and she brings incredible energy, care, and joy to Young Life at Bulloch Academy. Whether she is showing up at club, spending time with students, or simply being present in the everyday moments of life, Madison has a natural way of making kids feel seen and valued.

Madison leads with authenticity and a deep love for the students she spends time with. She consistently goes out of her way to build meaningful relationships, encourage students, and point them toward Jesus through the way she lives and loves.

We are so grateful for Madison and the impact she is making. Thank you for faithfully showing up and loving kids so well!
