Class of 2023

  • Class of 2023 Survey: Please take a minute to fill out this senior survey!  This will greatly help me with information for the end of the year.

  • Don't forget to fill out the FAFSA asap! Click here to learn about what a FAFSA is, who needs to apply (spoiler: everyone!). While applying for colleges you HAVE to fill out the FAFSA too!  Don't forget this important step. 

  • Scholarship Season is in FULL SWING for seniors! My motto is that you won't receive scholarship money if you don't apply!  Several upcoming scholarships are currently located on our website.  Make sure to check back often. So many scholarships have been added recently!

  • Scholarship Search Engines: Remember, you should never have to pay for a scholarship search! A few good searches include Big FutureFastwebScholarships.com, and Going Merry 

  • Ever considered a job shadow?  Not sure what career path you might want to take?  Job shadowing involves spending time following a professional as they work. By observing the professional for anywhere from a few hours to several weeks, you can get a better understanding of their particular career. We have a couple students setting up their job shadow experience.  This is a great article about what job shadowing entails.  Feel free to contact Mrs. Reinmuth if you want more information.

Class of 2024

  • Coolidge Scholarship Program: The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2024 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply. Winners may use the scholarship to pursue any academic major. For more information, visit the Coolidge Scholars website. Deadline for application is February 23, 2023.

  • Make a College LIst: Want to know what you should be doing now to prepare for college after high school? Your junior year is the PERFECT time to be making a list of colleges you are interested in.  Then start making plans to visit them this spring and summer. Get in touch with the admissions representative for our area. Every college has one who works with Washington State. You won't regret this stage of planning!

  • Visit a College! Even if you just visit a college here in Pierce County, you won't regret stepping on campus to learn more about what college life is about.  So, take the time to visit a college today or plan a trip to visit a college out of state soon.

  • Headed to college? Read this article for a AWESOME checklist on what you should be working on during your sophomore year.  Now is the time to start planning your future!

  • MOTUS Inspire College Campus Visits!  This event will have all of our sophomores leaving the SCA campus for the day and visiting either 4-year, 2-year, or technical schools.  Check your email for all the details!

  • Keep Your Grades Up!  If you are planning to attend college in the future, don't let your grades start slipping now!  Remember, everything that you do now counts towards your future college admissions, so make sure to keep up on your classwork.

Class of 2026

  • Community involvement: Now is the time to get involved!  Find a spot to volunteer and start being consistent with your volunteer time.  Don't forget to document your hours in the high school office!  You won't regret spending the time in your community as well as building your resume for college.

  • College isn't for everyone!  Here at SCA we believe that God has a calling for each of our students and that doesn't always mean attending college!  This is a great article talking about some of the alternatives out there for those who don't feel led to pursue a college experience.  Deciding What to do With Your Life & Career in High School

Want to Play Sports in College? 
Learn about the two different athletic associations here.  If you are planning to play sports post high school you may want to register with both associations and increase the numbers of colleges who will see you and connect with you as an athlete.  
Students can also visit the NCAA and create an account and find out more about eligibility requirements by visiting the NCAA Eligibility Center.  
The new 2022-2023 NCAA Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete is available!  If you plan to play sports after high school, make sure to take a look.  

Volunteer Hours!

Did you volunteer this summer?  Work at a SCA sports camp? Or help out at your church's VBS? Don't forget to turn your hours into the front office.  You can either complete this form or have your volunteer organizer send an email to tjones@soundchristianacademy.org (it can't come from the student or the parent).  Remember, all high school students are required to have the following number of volunteer hours:

Seniors (20 hours)
Juniors (15 hours)
Sophomores (10 hours)
Freshmen (5 hours)
