Picture of students celebrating University Day

   UNIVERSITY DAY

On May 8, 1961, North Texas State College became North Texas State University, and every spring, we commemorate this milestone on University Day. This year’s celebration is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 17, on the Library Mall (or in the University Union Jade and Emerald Ballrooms if there is rain). Free lunch will be provided by UNT Dining (so bring your UNT ID!), a DJ will be spinning tunes and many student organizations, departments and vendors will be tabling. The ceremony begins at 11:50 a.m., with an international flag parade taking place just beforehand.

You also can celebrate University Day at Discovery Park the same day and time in CG130, and at Frisco Landing from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in Room 130.

   SCHOLARSHIPS AWAIT

UNT is seeking outstanding students to apply for competitive national and international scholarships. Review the scholarships and their deadlines. If you plan to apply, contact James Duban or Catrina Watson about the scholarships you’re interested in. Applications may have several required steps, and it’s recommended that you submit the applications as early as possible, so don’t procrastinate!

   SPOT SURVEYS

Check your student email! You should have a message for each of your classes about the SPOT (Student Perceptions of Teaching) evaluation survey. Complete each survey with honest feedback about your instructors and classes, and then you’ll be entered into a random drawing. One winner will receive a 2026-27 Eagle parking pass, and five winners will receive a $20 credit in Dining Dollars. The surveys close Thursday, April 30.
