Vendors, dancers, singers, and audiences will visit the Maverick Activities Center from Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, and New York for the Native American Student Assocation at UTA Benefit Powow, which has become one of the biggest powwows in Texas. There will be fry bread, Indian tacos, a stickball demo, and arts and crafts at the event, set for Saturday, March 2, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

| International award-winning photographer Platon, who has shot portraits for a wide range of publications, is the next speaker at UTA's Maverick Speakers Series. Platon will present “Powerful Portraits” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Texas Hall. Tickets to see Platon are free for students, faculty, and staff, and $5 for the community.

| The UTA Association of TRIO Programs (ATP) will hold an Information Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 21,
11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the University Center, Palo Duro Lounge. Stop by to learn more about the services and programs offered at UTA. The ATP is comprised of the Educational Opportunity Center, Talent Search Programs, McNair Scholars Program, Student Support Services, Upward Bound Programs, Upward Bound Math and Science Programs, and the Veterans Upward Bound Program.

International Career Week (Monday, Feb. 26-Friday, March 1) is an initiative that prepares Global Mavericks
for the job and internship search and provides strategies for networking. To learn more about the process of hiring international students for on-campus employment, faculty and staff are invited to attend the Hiring International Students Workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 27
, 12-1 p.m., in the Student Government Chambers in the University Center. Learn what is needed to post a job on Handshake, the process of assisting international students in applying for a social security number, and other international student onboarding processes and regulations.

| The UTA Department of Theatre and Dance presents Head Over Heels, the 2018 Broadway musical mash-up of Renaissance poetry and 1980s pop music by the GoGo’s. The show runs for six performances from Wednesday, Feb. 28, though Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on March 2 and 3 at 2 p.m. Purchase tickets.

| Workers’ compensation program overview

RSVP for an overview of the Workers' Compensation Program that will be presented on Thursday, Feb. 29, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Trinity Hall, Room 104 W. Learn about supervisor and employee responsibilities, required forms, medical treatment, and more. 12-1:30 p.m. in the Central Library, sixth floor parlor. Dr. Esparza's research delves into the nuanced interplay between policing frameworks and misconduct trends in Latin America.

Recruit underclassmen, graduating seniors, graduate students, and alumni for full-time positions, part-time positions, co-ops, and internships at the All Majors Job and Internship Fair. More than 1,000 students and alumni are expected to attend the job fair, set for Wednesday, March 6, 12-4 p.m., in the Maverick Activities Center. Registration ends Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m.

| Building Emergency Safety Team

To provide a safe environment for UTA students, faculty, staff, and guests, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has created the
Building Emergency Safety Team (BEST) program. OEM is asking deans, directors, and department heads to appoint a primary BEST program coordinator, who will serve as the point of contact for a unit, department, or building in the area of emergency preparedness and safety.
