NIH Publication Requirements
The National Institutes of Health released a notice (NOT-OD-25-101) accelerating the implementation of efforts to make NIH research publicly available. Beginning July 1, 2025, "Author Accepted Manuscripts [can be made] available in PubMed Central without embargo upon the Official Date of Publication." Originally (NOT-OD-25-047), this policy was set to go into effect on December 31, 2025. Supplemental guidance for researchers is also available related to publication costs and government use license and rights: NOT-OD-25-048 and NOT-OD-25-049, respectively.

Federal Research Agency Policy Changes - reminder
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research reminds the research community about our website which contains updates on federal research agency policy changes. We encourage researchers to contact the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), by emailing NotifyOPS@uic.edu, if you have either received a direct communication from a funding agency and/or if your research is experiencing impacts from these policy changes. Please continue to monitor the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) website on the ‘2025 Administration Transition Information & Resources’ as these rapid changes are occurring. We also encourage the research community to familiarize yourself with the Facilities & Administration (F&A) Costs information as federal agencies continue to make changes to F&A costs models.
