Benjamin Gaughran (DMA ’25, choral conducting) and Eugene Rogers, associate professor of music and director of University Choirs, explore the many benefits of scholarship support at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Ben received the Brehm Endowed Fellowship for Choral Conducting while a master’s student at SMTD. For Ben and for many gifted students who dream of a Michigan education, the choice comes down to financial considerations, and it is only through scholarship support that they can realize their dreams. Ben and Eugene also discuss the importance of the Orpheus Singers, a lab ensemble integral to the education of choral conducting graduate students at U-M.
