The Extension Institute of Human Development & Relationships provides the tools Wisconsinites need to thrive as well-rounded, capable individuals and families. We support families in caring for each other in ways that promote growth and understanding. Our programs promote aging-friendly communities, coach effective parents and help families put technology, mindfulness, and financial awareness to use.

Money Matters LIVE: Fraud & Scam Prevention

Resilient Co-Parenting: Healthy Coping During Times of Transition

Focus on Fathers: Fathers Help Children Handle Emotions

Come learn how father figures can build stronger bond with their children and support the child’s socioemotional development.

 

How to Help Your Child Who Feels Down: A Training for Parents

Aug 19 & 26, 2026 | 12pm OR 7pm | Virtual

As adults, we all feel down and blue from time to time; so do children! This two-part class will teach caregivers knowledge and research-based skills to help your child feel better. Note: If your child struggles with more serious depression, please contact a mental health professional or school counselor.

Raising WI’s Children: Supporting Mental Health and Stronger Connections in the Digital World

Screens are a part of everyday life for families today. We’ll explore how families can use technology in thoughtful ways that support connection, learning, and mental health while also balancing off-screen activities.

The Family Engagement and Relationships (FER) program at UW–Madison Extension Dane County support strong family engagement and other interpersonal relationships that significantly contribute to the health and well-being of individuals, communities, and economics. Extension provides well-researched, quality information and programs to further support parenting and family relationships. The Financial Education Program at UW–Madison Extension of Dane County helps families and individuals to achieve financial well-being, reach for financial goals, planning for life’s unexpected events, and build a secure financial future.

Registration for the Fathers in Focus Conference 2026 is OPEN! A FREE conference where fathers, mentors, coaches, and allies from across Wisconsin gather to learn, support each other, and strengthen their roles in their families and communities. You can volunteer at the conference too!
