The transition from summer to fall means declining temperatures in most parts of the country. In Southern California, where we've experienced a cooler than average summer, we can also anticipate temperatures to drop. But the threat of heat is not over yet – Autumn brings the start of the Santa Ana Wind season, which can initiate hot, dry, fire-causing weather, so it's important to remain prepared for heat impacts.
The start of the fall season also means it's time for a new edition of the SoCal Extreme Heat Research Hub newsletter!
Over the past 3 months, Hub scientists have continued their ongoing research into the dynamics of extreme heat and its impacts. Education and outreach efforts –several of them highlighted below– have continued to be a strong point for the Hub, with additional exciting events and activities planned for the next quarter.
