| 🏡🔈 Protect local voices and local choices: Tell your legislators to vote no 🔈🏡
We believe decisions about our neighborhoods—such as how we manage noise, zoning, and land use—should be made right here at home in Georgetown, not by lawmakers from hundreds of miles away.
A new "super preemption" bill proposed in the Texas Legislature would limit the City Council’s ability to set local rules on zoning, noise, health and safety, land use and development (SB 2858 and SB 3016) that help protect your quality of life. 🗣️ SB 2858 is being debated by the senate this week.
⚖️This comes even as last session’s "Death Star" bill, which tried to do the same thing and was ruled by a judge as unconstitutional, is still being challenged in court.
Every community is different. What works in Houston or Dallas may not meet the needs of Georgetown’s families, businesses, and neighborhoods. We believe local decisions should be made by the people who live here—not through a one-size-fits-all approach from Austin.
🙋 We encourage you to stay informed and speak up to help keep Georgetown’s future in Georgetown’s hands.
Contact your state reps today to tell them you don’t support these bills. Find who represents you and how to contact them.

| Free chlorine rinse May 27-June 27
🚰 Attention, Georgetown water customers 🚰: From May 27 to June 27, the City of Georgetown Water Utility will conduct system maintenance. You might notice a temporary change in water odor or color. Water remains safe to drink for humans, pets (except fish, see below), and plants.
📣 Important notice for dialysis patients and centers!
During our water system maintenance from May 27 to June 27, take special precautions with water used for dialysis. Although safe for consumption, proper treatment is needed to remove disinfectants for use in the dialysis process.
🐠🌿 Heads up, fish tank owners 🐟🌱
During our water system maintenance, water won't be suitable for fish tanks or aquariums due to the temporary disinfection process change. Keep your aquatic friends safe by making alternative arrangements.
🏊️ Attention pool owners 🏊
During the maintenance period, chlorine levels should be maintained as usual to prevent algae and bacterial growth. Contact your local pool supply store for more details.
💧 Important Facts 💧
The maintenance being performed, called Free Chlorine Rinse, is a regular maintenance process recommended by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Concentrations maintained during the Free Chlorine Rinse period will be well within state and federal drinking water standards.
During the maintenance, hydrants will be flushed to maintain clear water and ensure the effectiveness of the process. When flushing hydrants, the water department will divert water onto lawns and grassy areas for reuse. Customers should not see a change in water pressure.
If a change occurs it should be momentary. Report low pressure persisting longer than an hour to the Customer Care team at customercare@georgetowntexas.gov.

| 📢 Our April FlashVote survey results are in!
Here's what your neighbors said about the State of Our City event and communications from the City of Georgetown:
🙋 93% of responders weren't able to attend the event this year, but only 31% said they didn't know about it.
👉 Our promotions of the event highlighted specific feedback we were asking for as well as projects, leaders, staff, and consultants who would be present. We primarily promoted the event through the media, on Facebook, and in our weekly electronic newsletter.
👉 Many expressed an interest in joining the meeting remotely. The address is live streamed and recorded.
👉 Based on your feedback, next year we will work harder to notify our community partners--like with our area schools, neighborhood leaders, and others--to help spread the word in more ways. If you have another way of getting news we could use, please email us at pio@georgetowntexas.gov.
📧 The vast majority (89%) prefer to get updates from the City through electronic newsletter.
👉 If you’re getting this, you should already be signed up to receive City news every Thursday, but share it with your friends!
📍 73% of responders wanted snapshots/timelines for ongoing or completed major projects.
👉 We have an entire, interactive website dedicated to just that. Check out our ClearGov site whenever you have a question about a major project. You can even sign up to receive alerts when project(s) are updated.
🤔 Some comments indicated a desire to see survey results and understand how they inform City decisions.
👉Summary reports from our FlashVote surveys, including takeaways and action items, are now available online, and we are now posting information like this to help communicate the results! Check out the full report and action items for this and past FlashVote surveys on our website. Your voice matters—help shape the future of Georgetown by signing up for our monthly surveys.
