UTA Libraries launches peer research program for students

Starting this month, the Research Mavs Program will allow experienced undergraduates to provide guidance, share research skills, and offer support to fellow students navigating the research process. This peer-to-peer collaboration, hosted in the Central Library, is designed to enhance academic skills, promote knowledge-sharing, and create a supportive community within the libraries and the University. Updates about this program will be posted on the UTA Libraries website and social media sites.

After advancing to the finals of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship Tournament, the UTA men’s basketball team lost 89-74 to Grand Canyon University— Phillip Russell and Shemar Wilson were selected for the 2024 All-Tournament Team. The loss marked the end of an eight-game winning streak for the Mavs, the program's longest since 2017 and the sixth-longest active streak in the nation. The UTA women’s basketball team fell to the top-seeded California Baptist Lancers in the WAC semifinals by a final score of 83-67— Avery Brittingham represented the Lady Mavs on the 2024 WAC All-Tournament Team.

The Maverick Pantry is hosting a thrift pop up and DIY tote bag event in collaboration with Student Government and the Office of Sustainability on Wednesday, March 20, at the Library East Mall Zone from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Students will pick out their favorite clothing and take their goodies home in a tote bag that they decorated themselves.

Earth Day acknowledges environmental accomplishments while emphasizing the necessity to preserve natural resources. The theme for this year's Earth Day is planet vs. plastics. It calls attention to the health risks of plastics and pushes for an end to fast fashion and single-use plastic products, and for a United Nations treaty on plastic pollution. Discover UTA’s efforts to establish a sustainable environment at The Earth Day Fair, which will be Tuesday, April 23, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Brazos Park. There will be T-shirts, food trucks, giveaways, activities, and music.

UTA Network security enforcement
|
OIT is enabling network security enforcement on all UTA-owned and -managed Windows and Mac devices connected to the UTA campus network over the next two months. This work is part of the Network Access Control project. Enforcement will be conducted building by building as outlined in the enforcement schedule. Devices that do not meet security compliance standards will be quarantined and unable to access UTA resources. If your device is impacted, you will receive a pop-up approximately one week in advance.
