Spring Break moved up a week

Because of a clerical error, we recently discovered that Spring Break was not lined up with Easter or with Tacoma School District's Spring Break - which historically is when we've had our break.

So, leadership has moved Spring Break up so it aligns with Tacoma and Good Friday.

Campus will be closed on Good Friday, which is on March 29 this school year. Spring Break will then be the following week, April 1-5.

Changes to your FACTS account

An email with detailed instructions about the changes to your FACTS account went out Wednesday.

You can view that email here, including how to create your new log-in for billing. This is required for all families, no matter how you pay.

Meet our new
Fourth Grade Teacher

We are pleased to announce our new Fourth Grade Teacher Jamie Harlor!

Jamie has been a teacher since 2009, working in the Fife, Auburn and Kent school districts and spending the last few years at Auburn Valley Christian School

He was an educational assistant at Fife in 2009-10, a math teacher at Cascade Christian in 2011, a math specialist in 2011-12 in Auburn, a fourth grade teacher from 201218 in Kent and has worked at Auburn Valley Christian since 2021.

We are so excited for you to meet Jamie!

Meet our new Drama and English Teacher

We are pleased to announce Amy Atherton as our new Secondary Drama and English Teacher.

Amy has taught in the U.S. and abroad for more than five years, including as a substitute at Annie Wright Schools last year.

She graduated from Bellarmine Prep in 2000, with a Bachelor of Art's degree in Communications Studies and a minor in Business Administration Theater Arts from the University of San Diego in 2004 and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Washington in 2008.

Additionally, for the past 12 years she has toured internationally with "Tony n Tina's Wedding," the longest running off-Broadway musical. She has years of experience behind the camera, on stage and doing voiceovers.

Amy replaces longtime drama teacher Calice Black, who retired to spend more time with her family.

Meet our new Pre-K teacher

As part of our recent relaunch of Pre-K for this school year, we are pleased to announce the hiring of Lucy Reynolds as our new Pre-K teacher!

Lucy is a 2020 graduate of Washington Virtual Academy in Tacoma and is currently studying for her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Western Governors College in Kent.

She spent the past year as the primary teacher for a class of 2-year-olds at a daycare in Seattle, teaching them their primary shapes and colors, teaching them about their emotions and how to get along with others.

We are so excited for you to meet Lucy!

Meet our new Cheerleading Coach!

We are pleased to announce our new Cheerleading Coach Kenzie Swantick!

Kenzie is a 2021 graduate of Tacoma Baptist/Sound Christian Academy.

She participated in cheer all four years in high school and was team captain as a junior and senior.

Kenzie participated in competitive cheer during middle school and is excited to share her talents and love for the sport with our community.

We are so excited to welcome Kenzie back to campus and for you to meet her.

Elementary School playdate this week

Do you have an Elementary School student coming to SCA this fall? Then you won't want to miss our Elementary School Playdate scheduled for 10-11:30am on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

This is a time for children to interact and play together, meet the elementary school teachers and for parents to get to know each other.

Bathrooms will be available inside, but classrooms will be closed.

Back to School Night set for Aug. 28

The best words a parent can hear: Summer is almost over.

And with summer ending it is almost time for Back to School Night!

This year's event will be from 5-6:30pm on Monday, Aug. 28 with the bulk of the event happening in the gymnasium.

There will be food and fun, plus tons of information, free shirts for students and more. You won't want to miss this great night.

High School Retreat reminder

Our annual High School Retreat is right around the corner.

It will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 1 at Black Diamond Camp in Auburn.
