Party in the city where the HEAT IS ON! We had an amazing time celebrating our alumni family this past weekend during the Famously Hot Alumni Reunion Weekend, which was held April 25-26 in Columbia. With more than 85 guests in attendance, we were filled with joy as we watched our graduates achieve deeper connections with each other and reflect on their time at the SOMC.
FRIDAY, APRIL 25
"A Stroll Down Memory Lane" Campus Tour kickstarted festivities and invited MD alumni celebrating a milestone reunion back to campus, many of whom had not visited since graduation. This comprehensive tour included a warm welcome from Interim Dean Gerald Harmon, MD, and an interactive experience from faculty, staff and student hosts while alumni nostalgically strolled through familiar buildings, halls, labs and classrooms.
Our "Sunsets & Sangria" Class Social invited reunion alumni to join us at the Moxy Hotel in downtown Columbia following the tour. Guests enjoyed private access to a game room, complimentary drinks at Bar Moxy as well as delicious bites from the in-house Mexican food truck, and picture-perfect, sunset views from the rooftop lounge overlooking the SC State House and entire city.
SATURDAY, APRIL 26
Saturday morning provided an opportunity to see Columbia's Soda City Market in all its glory; our "Reunion Blooming" Brunch Buffet at The Robinson Room gave reunion alumni a front row seat to the hustle and bustle of Main Street and a unique experience to organically fellowship over brunch with each other and current MD students from each class.
We turned up the heat with Saturday evening's "Ignite & Reunite" All Alumni Reception at Smoked in downtown Columbia. Our private courtyard echoed with laughter the entire night, as alumni reconnected with their classmates over calypso music from the local band, Pantasia, and enjoyed having their caricatures drawn as a keepsake to take home.
