BUDGET RECONCILIATION UPDATE
Today, House Republican leaders delayed a vote to push their party-line tax and spending package through the Budget Committee amid ongoing GOP opposition. The House Budget Committee started a markup of the GOP's proposed reconciliation bill this morning. Among the portions up for debate are changes to Medicaid work requirements as well as state and local tax (SALT) deductions. As reported by Punchbowl, the panel needs to stitch together the reconciliation portions reported out by each of the 11 other House committees involved in the process. That one package will then be sent to the Rules Committee, which is scheduled to meet on Monday to prep the legislation for the House floor. At the time of this writing, POLITICO Pro reports that Republican leaders are "entertaining substantial changes to the bill" before lawmakers are expected to vote on passage next week.
