Support for Your Whole Household (Not Just You) |
As we wrap up Mental Health Month, here’s something many people don’t realize about the Employee Assistance Program (EAP):
EAP support isn’t just for you—it’s available to your entire household.
Many employees are surprised to learn this benefit extends beyond themselves.
That includes spouses, dependents, and others living in your home. And it’s all available at no cost if you’re benefits-eligible.
When someone in your household needs help, getting connected quickly can make all the difference.

An Employee’s Experience: Fast Support for a Loved One |
An employee recounted a time when their family was dealing with an intensely painful dynamic. Their partner realized they needed help, but initially hesitated because they didn't think they could afford therapy.
The employee reminded their partner that the EAP covered their whole household for free. After reaching out, they had provider referrals by noon the following day and were sitting in their first appointment within a week.
For their family, this speed to care was a massive relief compared to the weeks-long waitlists often found in traditional therapy.
When asked what advice they’d share with coworkers, they pointed out a common worry: how using the EAP might affect your health insurance. They want to reassure everyone that this free resource is a completely closed loop. It is entirely separate from your insurance, and it is not tied to the university or the state in any way.

Speed to Care When It Matters Most |
|
|
|
|
When someone you care about is struggling, waiting weeks to get help can feel overwhelming.
The EAP helps reduce that delay. Many providers are able to schedule within two weeks, and often sooner. During the intake process, counselors take time to understand your situation and connect you with support that fits your needs.
Support is available when you need it, for you and the people who matter most.
