The Swartz Center Connects with CMU Alumni in India

Namrata Banerjee, Director of the CMU Swartz Center's Venture Bridge program, recently visited India to engage and share ideas with Carnegie Mellon University alumni founders, investors and mentors in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai.

The event was hosted by Barath Shankar Subramanian, Sarthak Singh, Deenanath Harapanahalli and Ashutosh Pastor and was organized by Mimi Fairman, Executive Director, International Advancement at CMU. TDK to Acquire CMU Spinout Qeexo to Enable Complete Smart Edge Platforms
TDK Corporation has announced that it has agreed to acquire Qeexo, Co., a U.S.-based venture-backed company spun out of Carnegie Mellon University engaged in the automation of end-to-end machine learning for edge devices.

CONNECTS Seminar Series
The Swartz Center's CONNECTS seminar series will resume on January 18, 2023, following a break at the end of the Fall semester.

The CONNECTS seminars are aimed at enhancing the experiential education of any individual interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. Tailored primarily for students to help take their ideas from conception to commercialization, the seminars run throughout the academic year. Teams looking for talent and talent looking for teams are encouraged to CONNECT at these events.

The CMU Swartz Center is excited to announce the 2023 McGinnis Venture Competition.

The
McGinnis Venture Competition is a platform exclusively for Carnegie Mellon University’s global community of student entrepreneurs, bringing together the best and brightest to compete for $60K in investments. All participants receive coaching, valuable feedback and an opportunity to raise capital. The multi-round competition begins with two virtual rounds and will culminate in a final live-round celebration on March 21, 2023. Read the requirements and guidelines here and apply by January 18, 2023.

Applications Open for the CSL Fellows Spring Cohort
Applications are now open for the CSL Fellows Spring 2023 cohort. This program pairs interdisciplinary graduate students with corporate partners to engage in meaningful work as paid, corporate venture and innovation associates. Students have the opportunity to work on a real startup idea within a large company through Deal Sourcing, Due Diligence, Market Mapping, Go-To-Market Strategy, Portfolio Strategy
and more.

Apply for the Customer Discovery Kickstart Program by
January 23, 2023


The Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship’s Project Olympus Incubator is offering Customer Discovery Kickstart, a 4-week program for early-stage startups to explore the feasibility of their business ideas. The program will take place in February and is designed to help early-stage startups determine product- market-fit by connecting them with potential customers and industry stakeholders.

Startups must commit to attending all required cohort meetings and completing course assignments. The time commitment for participation is on average seven hours per week, which includes prep work, homework, cohort meetings and conducting customer interviews. The deadline to apply is
January 23, 2023. Send questions to Melanie Simko, Program Manager.

Applicants are encouraged to register for an Info Session to learn more about the program. The dates for the sessions are:

January 9, 2:00 - 2:30 PM ET
