Transfer Alliance Program (TAP)

March 2026

I hope you had a restful Spring Break! You have a little more than a month to go until the end of the semester. Keep going strong as you prepare for finals. (And congratulations to the graduates!)

Job Opportunity

Fall 2026 TAP Peer Ally Applications – Due date coming up!

This is the last week to apply to be a TAP peer ally for the Fall 2026 semester! If you have an interest in helping incoming UML transfer students transition to the university, being a peer ally may be for you! Information on the job responsibilities of a Peer Ally can be found on the TAP website. The hourly rate is $16.25/hour, and you can expect to work an average of 4 hours per week. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email us or ask the TAP allies at their drop-in hours which are listed on the website.

How to apply:

  1. Email tap@uml.edu a resume including your work and educational experience and a cover letter indicating your reasons for applying (250-500 words).
  2. One (1) brief letter of support from a UMass Lowell faculty or staff member sent directly to TAP@uml.edu

If you need additional time to submit your application materials, please reach out to tap@uml.edu and we can work with you individually to accommodate your needs.

Transfer Basketball Game

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Transfer Student Basketball Game on Feb. 28.

It was great to connect with you and see you at a fun sporting event!

Rowdy even represented TAP in style!

Preparing for Next Semester

Advising holds have been placed on many student accounts and they must be lifted before you can enroll in next semester’s classes. If you haven’t already, be sure to schedule a meeting with your advisor so your hold will be lifted before registration begins, and you can identify the courses you need to stay on track for graduation. If you aren’t sure who your advisor is, you can check on SIS or contact advisement@UML.edu. It is really important that you meet with your advisor.

Fall semester classes will be viewable March 27. To get a head start on your Fall planning, look at the course catalog to see the list of the available classes for the Fall semester. You can view your outstanding requirements in your Academic Advising Report in SIS. This can serve as a guide for what classes are left to complete in your studies.

Use the schedule builder tool in UML Now to draft a schedule for Fall 2026 that works best for you with the classes you intend to take. Input the classes you plan to register for and then you can sort the schedule configurations in a variety of different ways from most morning classes to most days off, and a few other options as well. All of this prep work will help ensure that your advising appointment is as productive as possible.

Fall 2026 enrollment begins April 6

Your enrollment date is listed in SIS. If there is a specific class or professor you know you want to take in the Fall, you will want to enroll as early as possible so the class does not fill before you register. An enrollment time slot can open as early as 7 a.m., so be sure to set an alarm for yourself just in case!

Important Academic Dates Coming Up

March 18: Last day for students to complete work for incomplete fall 2025 and winter 2026 courses.

March 27: Fall 2026 schedule of classes will be viewable in SIS at 4 p.m.

March 30: Extended faculty advising hours begin. First day for seniors who anticipate completion of degree requirements by the end of December 2026 to confer with faculty advisors and to file Programs of Baccalaureate Studies (Declaration of Intent to Graduate form).

April 6: Enrollment for fall 2026 courses begins.

April 7: Last day for students to withdraw from courses with grade of “W” for regular session. If you are unsure how you are doing in a class and concerned that you might not pass, you should have a conversation with your professor before this date.

April 17: Extended faculty advising hours end. Last day for seniors who anticipate completion of degree requirements by the end of December 2026 to confer with faculty advisors and to file Programs of Baccalaureate Studies (Declaration of Intent to Graduate form).

May 2– 9: Final exams (including Saturday). Not sure of your exam times? This can be found under “Exam Schedule” in your SIS portal. View the final exam policies if there are any exam scheduling conflicts, including having three or more exams scheduled on one day, to learn how to reschedule. These policies also outline guidance and resources related to Disability Services accommodations during final exams.

Take Notice:
Seniors who anticipate completion of their degree requirements by the end of December 2026 (the end of the Fall 2026 semester) should speak with faculty advisors and file Declaration of Intent to Graduate (DIG) form between March 30 – April 17. If you have not yet, you will soon start receiving emails to remind you of this.
