START is currently updating the RCN Application and Contract Forms page for 2021-2022. Please stay tuned for the updated page.

2021-2022 Early Childhood

Information about supporting our youngest learners will be provided through a three-day, team-based Early Childhood Training series to be delivered once in the fall (virtually) and once in the spring (in-person, in Lansing, circumstances permitting). Applications to attend the fall session as a team (3-6 team members) will be available September 10, 2021 on the START website

2021-2022 Secondary Transition Training

The goal for the START Secondary Transition Training is to increase overall capacity at the RCN level for implementation of evidence-based practice transition supports and services. This will be accomplished by providing focused state and national resources, a strategic and interactive framework, and technical assistance through coaching support.
For the 2021-2022 school year, the Secondary Transition Training will be self-paced learning for trainers, individuals, and/or teams. The training, accessed on the START website, will include a full day webinar with an overview of transition and guidance on how to effectively navigate the training with teams. There will also be an opportunity to attend scheduled virtual coaching support sessions and a half day final webinar to share resources and implementation outcomes.
More information about this training, including registration and the process, will be provided to the RCN in October.

RCN Logo Refresh

Our project has grown and evolved over the years. START looks much different than it did 20, 10 or even 5, years ago, and the START logo reflects those changes evolving with our project. As an extension of START that represents our project’s identity and voice, we want to give the RCN the same opportunity for a refresh. START would like to acknowledge and honor your work through either a table runner or a banner featuring your new logo:
  • 1 gift per ISD or 3 gifts for single county RCN:
    • (2) Custom Tabletop Retractable Banner (11.5” x18”)
    • (1) Custom Table Runner (36”)
    • (1) Custom Table Runner (60”)
Detailed instructions are available here. If your RCN is interested in a banner or a table runner, please contact Kellie Fitzgerald by September 24, 2021.

RCN Standalone Trainings for the START Website

Each RCN should submit at least one RCN-provided stand-alone training per semester using START content delivered by START EPLI trainers. The training will be included in the events listing on the START website, and should be open to the RCN and the broader region, including families and community partners. Trainings should be submitted here.
The submitted trainings will be posted here on the START website as they are received. Please share this with your local contacts.
Note: Does your RCN have any training webinars or recorded videos that you are willing to share with others? START is seeking any publicly available training webinars or recorded videos to link on our website in order to make them available to a wider audience. If you have any webinars or videos to share, or questions related to this, please contact Kellie Fitzgerald

Accessibility and START Standards

START has created a page to provide tools to assist all those who create or disseminate materials or messages in print or electronically that represent START's brand or image. We invite our partners and trainers to explore this page to review accessibility guidelines and START formatting standards. More information, including START common PowerPoint slides and images, will be available soon.
