The review of FA23 grades is complete and the quarterly academic probation letters are available online. The letters are available in StudentDB for staff and GEPA’s Student Portal for students. The letters notify students of GPA issues and/or more than 8 units of U/F grades. Probation holds will prevent SP24 registration. More details on academic probation procedures.
WI24 Doctoral Time Limits
WI24 Time Limit Expiration notices are now available in StudentDB for staff and GEPA’s Student Portal. SP24 registration holds have been placed for PCTL and TRTL expirations. Reminder: Extension requests should be submitted to GEPA via the new online form.
Doctoral Committee Approval: As a reminder, committee constitution (or reconstitution) requests must be submitted and approved by GEPA prior to qualifying and defense exams.
Emails & Teams Messages to GEPA: Always provide the student name and PID whenever reaching out with a question about a student, even if it seems to be a simple question.
DocuSign Forms - Subject Lines: When submitting DocuSign forms to GEPA, please make sure to always include in the Subject Line, student name, PID, Major code, and Document type for all forms.
CAMPUS UPDATES
New Updates to the Policy on Syllabi
The Educational Policy Committee, in consultation with the Graduate Council, approved amendments to the Policy on Syllabi for Courses. The amended policy will now require all graduate directed research and teaching apprenticeship courses (typically numbered 296, 297, 298, 299, and 500) to have a syllabus. The changes take effect in Fall 2024. Resources are linked below for developing syllabi for directed research and teaching apprenticeship courses.
The Registrar's Office deployed system enhancements and changes to implement lived name for students. The impetus for the project was the UC Gender Recognition and Lived Name policy and the implementation brings with it some consequential changes. Most systems (including ISIS) as well as diplomas and transcripts will be converted to use lived name, which students can enter via the Social Identities Tool. See the links below for more details.
