Teaching Tips: Talk to Your Students |
The more transparent we are with our students, the better the learning outcomes are for them and the more engaging the experiences are for all of us.
In my async online class, I just tried a brand new collaborative assignment with some challenging logistics and I really wanted to know the student experience. So I created an optional anonymous form. 6 out of my 29 students responded and all comments were positive with some thoughtful suggestions for change. Instead of wondering how something is going for your students, just ask them!

Now is the Time for Mid-semester Feedback, from the Hub or on your own |
This is a great time to take a "temperature check" of how the semester is going for the students you have right now. Here are some strategies you might consider:
Want a quick, conversational reminder of how and why to collect feedback? Refresh your memory with our blog post (written by LEO Lecturer Sarah Silverman!)
Looking for an example template to collect your own feedback? Here you go!
The Hub is offering mid-course student feedback sessions for in-person and online classes. After a consultation, an instructional designer will engage directly with your students to collect feedback, without you present. We'll then discuss that feedback individually and help you make a plan for responding to your students.

Recording Available for the Faculty Panel |
Reckoning with AI Writing in the Wake of Pandemic Teaching |
If you missed last week's panel, this blog post will catch you up. If it raises any questions or ideas for you, you can book a GenAI Consultation with an Instructional Designer. Our designers have been following the impacts of GenAI on university teaching very closely and can assist you in thinking through this complex teaching issue, providing you with outside resources, and redesigning assignments and assessments to best meet your learning goals.
