Family Weekend registration opens Aug. 22

Join the Vanderbilt community on Oct. 13–15 for fun activities that will connect families to Vanderbilt traditions and Nashville, their student’s new home! The whole family will have a blast at this year’s Family Weekend with exciting new additions in and around the essential educational panels, fun campus tours and cheering on the ’Dores.

This year, families get to help choose the Family Weekend giveaway T-shirts. Cast your vote for your favorite design, and make sure you register on Aug. 22—only Family Weekend participants will find out which shirt won! Families can also go on “Cornelius’ Quest,” a scavenger hunt over the weekend in celebration of our 150th anniversary to win a prize.

Vanderbilt vs. UNLV Commodore Tailgate | Saturday, Sept. 16 | 1:30–3:30 p.m. PT

Parents, alumni, families and friends are invited to join the Vanderbilt Alumni Association and the National Commodore Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the official tailgate for the Vanderbilt vs. UNLV football away game. Put on your BLACK and GOLD and Anchor Down with the Commodores!

Diermeier advocates for university priorities at meetings, congressional reception in Washington, D.C.

Chancellor Daniel Diermeier met with members of Congress to advocate for federal investments in research and higher education. He urged for robust federal research funding and student aid programs, and he highlighted Vanderbilt’s leading role in building the innovation ecosystem in Tennessee—particularly in the automotive industry.

Seven Commodores selected in MLB Draft

Outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr. was taken 17th overall by the Baltimore Orioles. Bradfield is Vanderbilt’s 22nd first-round selection in the Tim Corbin era (2003-present)—the most in the SEC. The Commodores have boasted a first-round pick in each of the past five MLB Drafts.
