The University of Texas at Austin
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Your regular, routine engagement with students may provide the first clue that they are experiencing challenging circumstances. You may notice a student’s mood or behavior change in the classroom, or perhaps, a student comes to you directly for guidance and help.
We would like to share Division of Student Affairs resources that are available if student mental health concerns, emergencies or conduct issues occur. They include:
The Counselors in Academic Residence (CARE) Program — part of our Counseling and Mental Health Center — provides direct support for students with dedicated staff members embedded in every college and school. You can read more about the program and find the contact information for your college CARE counselor here.
Texas Well-being provides guidance and strategies to help faculty members and administrators make small shifts in and out of the classroom that can lead to major differences in students’ mental health and well-being.
To augment on-campus mental health support services, the University continues to partner with TimelyCare, a virtual mental health and well-being platform that is free for currently enrolled students. TimelyCare offers 24/7 on-demand emotional support, scheduled counseling, health coaching and more, available in 240 languages. Students also received a message yesterday with these mental health resources.
Student Outreach and Support, formerly Student Emergency Services, helps students during difficult and/or emergency situations. The team assists with class absence notifications, operates the Student Emergency Fund for students in need of immediate financial resources, and leads the behavioral intervention team for campus. If you become aware of a critical issue, please email Student Outreach and Support or call 512-471-5017.
Our Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) serves as the primary space to report issues or concerns about any member of the University community. BCAL staff members partner with identified liaisons in each college to assist with responding to concerning behaviors quickly. You can call 512-232-5050 (available 24/7) or share your concerns online.
UT Outpost serves students as a campus food pantry and career closet.
Student Conduct and Academic Integrity administers the student conduct process for potential policy violations, including academic misconduct. Faculty resources include ideas for preventing and addressing academic misconduct and a flowchart for responding to classroom disruption.

These resources are here to assist you and support our students as they strive for success throughout the year. We hope you find this information helpful and appreciate your support as we kick off another successful academic year!

Sincerely,
KM
