Dear Neighbors,
We understand that the issuance of a demolition permit for the building located at 1224–1236 W. Loyola Avenue has raised questions about the future of this site.
As both a longtime neighbor and a growing urban university, Loyola recognizes that decisions related to our properties affect the neighborhood. Also, this area has been publicly identified as part of a future Chicago Transit Authority project, meaning Loyola will not be the sole decision-maker regarding its long-term use. But, we are committed to stewarding the site responsibly and thoughtfully.
In early spring, following the demolition, the site will be improved with streetscape elements, such as upgraded fencing and new landscaping.
Loyola is committed to engaging directly with neighbors and local leadership to listen and understand community priorities as next steps are considered.
Thank you for your engagement, collaboration and feedback.
