Happy Easter!

From the Camp Director

Progress: That is what is on my mind these days. A lot of projects going on here at camp. It is so exciting to see everything that the Lord has blessed us with. The grants from Wheeler and Lilly are a true blessing. I will be giving an update regularly to share about these projects mainly through our Facebook page so please be a part of that. As of now here is where we stand:

1.  The well at wilderness is complete. We have a water hydrant in place.  If we want to get water to the cabins, we will still need to do that on our end.

2.  Kitchen Remodel - This is in progress at this time. We have hired a contractor to start that work. The staff did some demolition in anticipation of this work.

3.  Cabin # 1 - The foundation is finished and plumbing is in. Everything is ready for concrete. Concrete is scheduled for this week and framing will begin next week.

4.  Waste Treatment Plant - Right now everything has been submitted to the State for approval.

5. New Shop - Scheduled to start in September.

6. Parking Lot - Powell Excavating plans to start soon.

We have some BIG prayer concerns with getting state approval for the waste treatment plant, the shop and another exit off the highway into our new parking lot. Please keep these in your prayers. We have to have the state approval for all of these projects in order to move forward.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.” - Jeremiah 17:5a,7-8

The Lord spoke the above words through Jeremiah, to show us the core of His blessings for those who trust in Him. Faith in God keeps us well nourished and hydrated. We lack nothing as long as we keep God first and ask His help.

Kitchen Remodel is UNDERWAY!

It is hard to believe that summer camp is right around the corner! It feels like 2026 just started and here we are in the month of April. I am getting geared up and excited for another summer in the kitchen providing the campers, faculty, and staff with delicious meals that will provide them with the energy they need for a great time here at camp. In order to provide those meals, we are getting ready to start the kitchen remodel this week! We are going to start gutting it and getting things moved out in the next couple days, and then our contractor can start building the wall and replacing the ceiling in the kitchen.

Our goal is to have this project completed by the 15th of this month. That is a quick turnaround, but we are confident we can get it done in that time. This will provide much needed floor space in the kitchen as well as adding a sound barrier between the dining hall and the kitchen. The dining hall has seen an increase in usage for small groups and classroom space that there have been times we have been a distraction in the kitchen. This wall will provide the much-needed separation between the two spaces. Along with the wall we are adding a roll down window where you return your trays to act as a sound barrier for the dish room area as well.

One of the biggest projects that will be taking place during the remodel is making a hole in the wall so we can rotate the freezer 90 degrees and be able to get to the freezer from inside. Currently we have to go outside to get things from the freezer, but this will allow the kitchen staff to get things more efficiently in and out of the freezer. We will frame the wall around the face of the freezer, and the door will be straight across from our walk-in fridge. This will be a huge blessing for years to come.

In addition to all of this, I am still looking for some volunteers in the kitchen during the summer. If you are interested in helping with that, please reach out to me at toddblair@hangingrock.org and we can discuss that further.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who has donated to making this kitchen remodel a reality. We can not do any of this without your generosity. So, from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for giving to this project!!
