Over 4.7 billion people worldwide actively engage with social media each day, and 210 million suffer from social media addiction—sparking concerns about societal well-being and safety. With TikTok alone boasting nearly two billion users globally, worries about data privacy and national security have also escalated, resulting in unprecedented efforts by Congress to ban the application by 2025. During this symposium, experts in law, psychology, and technology will provide insights into the compulsive nature of virtual networks, the implications of government regulation, and their profound impact on society, politics, and information dissemination.
