OHIO Web Essentials: Building Accessible, Inclusive, and Brand-Aligned Sites
A new 2-hour online course from the UCM web team has been published in Canvas. This course is an overview of the roles and responsibilities for anyone either directly working in the Drupal website or responsible for the content in the Drupal website. The goal of this course is to provide content creators, editors, publishers, and their supervisors with the knowledge and skills needed to create or approve webpages that adhere to accessibility standards and follow best practices in usability and inclusive design.
For prospective students, OHIO’s website is often the first introduction to our campus, academic offerings, and community. It is imperative that our website represents the University in the best light. We strive to give our viewers a sense of being here, and of being connected to the people, places, and things on each page. Our websites should authentically represent the diversity of our campus and promote a sense of belonging for all. It is the responsibility of each of our content creators and web editors to ensure that our webpages meet these expectations. UCM appreciates the commitment of time and attention that this takes, and we are committed to helping you succeed in this role.
We recommend that anyone who has a vested interest in website content for their office or department take this course (even if you don’t actually edit the webpages). All OHIO employees can self-enroll in this course.
