5 Things to Know This Week at LOYNO
August 31, 2026

Happy Monday, Wolf Pack!

Here are your 5 Things to Know for this week!

1. Mass of the Holy Spirit

This Thursday, at 11:30 am, in Holy Name of Jesus Church, the entire university community will come together to celebrate the official beginning of the new academic year in this over 500 year old tradition at all Jesuit schools. Whether you are Catholic or not, you won't want to miss this truly powerful experience of invoking the Holy Spirit on all our efforts this year! All 11 am and 12:30 pm classes are canceled so that all may attend. For questions or accommodations, contact the Department of Student Life and Ministry at getinvolved@loyno.edu.

2. Letters in the Quad

Come to the Peace Quad tomorrow, September 1st, from 12:30 - 1:30 pm, for Letters in the Quad ! This is a chance to connect with members of the Greek Life community, learn more about our chapters, and celebrate what makes each organization unique. Stop by, say hi, and get involved! For questions or accommodations email getinvolved@loyno.edu.

3. Greenhouse Social & Rain Barrel Painting

Socialize with the Students for Environmental Action (SEA) in Loyola's Azby Greenhouse, Tuesday, September 1st from 6 - 8 pm. Azby Greenhouse is located on the roof of Monroe Hall. They will be celebrating the beginning of the new academic year with free food, games, music, and more! Then at 10 am, on Saturday, September 5th, join the SEA at the Azby Greenhouse to paint rain barrels for the Greenhouse. For questions or accommodations email Krystal Fernandes, President of the Students for Environmental Action at kafernan@my.loyno.edu.

4. Study Abroad in Iceland

Come learn more about studying Icelandic literature and writing your own stories in Iceland during J-term 2027! Dr. Tracey Watts will be leading this info session about the program. Come to Marquette 401 this Wednesday, September 2, at 4 pm to learn more about the course, the costs, and the application process for the J-term study abroad. All interested students are welcome! For questions or accommodations, contact the Center for International Education at cie@loyno.edu.

5. Join the Student Government Association (SGA)

Welcome back, Wolf Pack! Ready to make an impact this year? Getting involved with SGA is a great way to have a voice on campus, represent your fellow students, build leadership skills, and help shape the Loyola experience! Whether you’ve been involved before or are looking for something new this year, there’s a place for you in SGA! As a part of SGA, you will be able to advocate for students, connect with campus leaders, and turn your ideas into action. Make your voices heard! Returning students, we want YOU to get involved! SGA committee applications can be found here. For questions or accommodations, email sga@loyno.edu.
